Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1406

"You've got it all wrong! It's the others who should be watching out for you," Taylor teased, well aware that very few men could rival Abigail's skills.

Abigail shot him a fierce glare, and the two exchanged challenging looks, engaged in a silent showdown of wills.

Helen let them spar for a moment before rushing back to check on Cameron. Thankfully, he seemed unharmed, with no serious injuries.

Nonetheless, today's events were a wake-up call for her. Cameron needed surgery immediately to ensure he had a means of self-defense; she couldn't afford to let situations like this happen again.

Helen had thought the day couldn't possibly become more chaotic. But as she and Cameron entered the room, she found Melody holding her phone tightly, her eyes puffy and swollen from crying.

"Bee." Melody sobbed uncontrollably as she hugged Helen tightly. "Your father… he's gone."

A deafening roar echoed in Helen's mind. She froze in disbelief for a few moments before pushing Melody away. "What do you mean, 'gone'? What does that mean?"

The weight of their blood ties left no room for denial. Despite her estrangement from Aaron, the news of his death sent her heart plummeting.

Gathering her strength, Helen composed herself and took Melody back to Boston Residence.

Aaron had died by suicide, and his body was already at the hospital, awaiting burial preparations.

Helen searched his study meticulously but found nothing unusual—except for a letter.

"My dear Melody, I know I've failed you in this life. In the next life, I will love and cherish you as I should have. Please take care of the Boston family from here on.

Helen took a moment to collect herself. After touching up her makeup, she headed downstairs.

In the living room, Maddox Bardot sat on the sofa. As soon as he saw Helen approach, he stood up.

"Hi, Ms. Boston," he greeted, his Cholonese accented with a distinct Australisia lilt.

"Hello," Helen replied, extending her hand for a handshake. "Mr. Bardot, I assume you've come to discuss business with my father. As you can see, my family is going through a difficult time right now. It might be best for you to come back another day."

"I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Boston. Please accept my condolences," Maddox said with respect. "You don't need to worry about me; I'm more than happy to help you with the arrangements for Mr. Boston's affairs. We can head out afterward."

"We?" Helen's brow furrowed. "You and me? Where exactly are we going?"
