As soon as the person in front of Sadie entered the building, Augustine emerged, flanked by a group of elderly men in suits.
"Mr. Crawford," Sadie greeted him with a smile, smoothing her hair.
Augustine shot her a glance and replied brusquely, "Hi." He then turned away and headed toward Helen and the others.
Sadie felt completely overlooked, her expression shifting dramatically as frustration washed over her.
Meanwhile, Tommy and Bentley were deeply immersed in "Survival Game." Just as they hit a critical moment, a shadow suddenly fell over them, obscuring their screens.
They instinctively looked up to find themselves surrounded by a group of elderly men who had quietly gathered. Each one was fixated on Helen, their faces plastered with obsequious smiles.
Their gazes were predatory, like wolves eyeing their next meal.
"What do you want?!" Tommy shouted as he jumped to his feet, instinctively positioning himself in front of Helen to protect her.
"Ms. Spencer, this young man must be your brother, am I right? What a striking figure he is—tall, strong, and incredibly handsome. A true hero in the making…" Augustine praised him, his words oozing charm.
At first, Tommy was taken aback by the compliments, feeling a bit flattered. But as he processed the situation, he quickly steeled himself. "Enough! I know where I stand, and you won't sweet-talk me into submission! As long as I'm here, no one is going to harm Helen!"
"Haha… With you looking out for Ms. Spencer, she's bound to be safe. However, young man, I believe there's been a misunderstanding—we're here to escort Ms. Spencer in for her evaluation," Augustine said with a friendly smile.
"Escort her?" Tommy raised an eyebrow, skepticism clear on his face. "Aren't evaluations done in order? Are you seriously considering letting Helen cut in line?"
"Someone as talented as Ms. Spencer deserves a special path, one that reflects the respect she commands," Augustine replied sincerely.
"That sounds somewhat reasonable," Tommy replied with a nod, feeling slightly convinced. After all, he thought Helen deserved this kind of treatment.
However, Helen wasn't interested in any special favors.
"Let's just follow the rules," she said firmly. "Cutting the line would be unfair to the other contestants, and I don't want to create any unnecessary drama."
"Alright, please don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything. We'll do our best to accommodate you. The Calligraphy Association may not have much, but we truly value talent above all else. Once you join us, you'll see for yourself!" Augustine added, ever keen to promote the association.
Helen forced a polite smile, choosing not to respond further.
Before long, Sadie finished her evaluation and stepped out of the building.
A sharp-eyed reporter immediately rushed over to interview her.
"Ms. Fletcher, how did you do in the evaluation this time?"
Sadie offered a shy smile, feigning modesty as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I've made some progress since last year, but I only managed to get an A."
"An A? That's comparable to many regional calligraphy association presidents, right? Ms. Fletcher, you're truly impressive for your age!" the reporter exclaimed, clearly impressed.
Sadie responded with a small, reserved smile but chose not to elaborate.
