Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1315

Chandler shut the door and exchanged a resigned glance with Helen. With a slight shrug, he said, "I'm sorry. I didn't realize she'd be here. You should try to get some rest; I'll take care of it."

"Forget it," Helen replied, exhaling softly. She got out of bed and headed toward the bathroom. "A daughter-in-law has to meet her mother-in-law eventually; we can't keep avoiding each other."

After a quick freshen-up, Chandler gently took her hand and led her downstairs.

As they reached the middle of the staircase, they spotted a tall woman seated on the living room couch. Her polished outfit and glasses conveyed an air of sophistication, clearly indicating her high level of education.

Upon hearing their footsteps, the woman promptly stood up. She turned to them and offered a courteous nod.

Though Chandler and Helen were briefly taken aback, they quickly composed themselves and nodded in return.

Priscilla, however, was already seated at the dining table.

Chandler pulled out a chair for Helen before sitting down beside Priscilla.

Without saying a word, Priscilla reached into her bag and slid a jewelry box toward Chandler with a decisive motion.

Despite his confusion, Chandler opened the box to reveal a dazzling diamond bracelet—an heirloom passed down through the Newton family.

A smile spread across his face as he looked at Helen, his eyes filled with warmth.

"What are you staring at me like that for?" Helen asked, feeling shy under his gaze. She touched her face, a hint of self-consciousness in her voice. "Is there something wrong with my makeup?"

Chandler shook his head and replied softly, "Helly, could you give me your hand?"

With a nod, Helen extended her hand to him.

Chandler lifted the diamond bracelet from the box and carefully slid it onto Helen's wrist. "This is a gift from Mom. It's a family heirloom, passed down exclusively to the eldest daughter-in-law."

Helen was momentarily taken aback. Did this mean Priscilla had finally embraced her as her daughter-in-law?

Sensing her thoughts, Chandler nodded knowingly. "Shouldn't you thank Mom?" he encouraged.

Meanwhile, Helen let out an exasperated huff, realizing how naive she had been to think Priscilla had changed.

It was clear that her relentless nature had simply taken on a new guise—she was attempting to set Chandler up with someone else.

"This is Scarlett Baird. She used to be a journalist and has dual PhDs. With her here, I'm confident your household will flourish," Priscilla said casually.

Just as Chandler was about to decline, Helen interjected, "Ms. Baird, you're not only stunning but also exceptionally accomplished. Why would you want to be a housekeeper in our home?"

"A well-managed household involves more than just sweeping the floor. It requires a significant amount of emotional intelligence and intellect, making it quite a challenge," Scarlett replied, her smile steady and composed.

Her real intention, however, wasn't to be a housekeeper; it was to capture Chandler's heart.

After all, she and Chandler had been childhood friends. If she hadn't returned to the country so late, Helen would never have had the chance to win him over.

This time, Scarlett was intent on showing Chandler that only someone like her—a true standout—was deserving of him.
