Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1309

After the monthly test, Helen barely spent any time on campus. As she returned to her dorm, she noticed the lights were on. Madelyn was seated at her desk, focused intently on her calligraphy practice.

"You're working hard, huh?" Helen remarked casually. "Did you meet any inspiring experts at the Calligraphy Association?"

Madelyn kept her head down and didn't respond.

After a moment of silence, Helen couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Faint, muffled sobs soon filled the air, and as she got closer, she found Madelyn crying.

The paper in front of her was marked with streaks of tears, turning the once-clear letters into blurred, inky shapes.

"What's wrong, Madelyn?" Helen asked, her voice filled with concern as she handed her a tissue.

Madelyn bit her lip, her voice shaking as she struggled to meet Helen's gaze. "I'm so sorry, Helen. I lost your badge, and I can't find it anywhere."

Helen couldn't help but let out an exasperated sigh. "Is that all? You don't need to be this upset. It's just a badge, and it wasn't worth much anyway. Come on, wipe those tears."

Madelyn sniffled and finally lifted her head, her eyes swollen and red. "Helen, Mason broke up with me. He said we weren't compatible and that I wasn't a good girlfriend nor a reliable friend. I feel like such a failure."

Helen suddenly recalled what Paul had said earlier—Mason had given the badge to Sadie. Their breakup was likely connected to her.

For a man who was already exploring other options while still in a relationship, breaking up was probably the right decision. There was no reason for Madelyn to be upset.

But since this was her first love, Helen didn't want to burden her with the messy details, so she decided to keep quiet.

She gently reassured her, saying, "It's not your fault. Relationships can be like that—some lead to happy endings, while others don't work out. You're both great people; it just might be that you weren't the right match for each other.

"Heartbreak is a part of life. It's okay to feel pain and sadness now, but you'll get through this. Just remember not to look back, okay?"

Madelyn nodded, a bewildered expression crossing her face. "So, Helen, have you ever gone through a breakup as well?"

Helen was taken aback.

Before she knew it, Friday had arrived.

As Madelyn stepped out of the Advanced Studies Building, she spotted Mason.

The emotions from their breakup flooded back, and she instinctively wanted to pretend she hadn't seen him and slip away.

Unfortunately, Mason noticed her and came to a halt. He took her hand and led her away.

After the variety show wrapped up, Scott followed Theo into the backstage lounge.

As soon as he stepped inside, he spotted Tyrone lounging on the couch. His commanding presence filled the room with a palpable tension.
