Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1302

Sadie was caught off guard.

What was Helen trying to pull? Sadie had personally reviewed every painting before securing them in the safe, and "Peony Fantasia" certainly wasn't among them.

Was it possible that Helen hadn't handed over all of Seraphina's paintings that day and had secretly kept a few for herself?

Helen was undoubtedly shrewd. Given Seraphina's age and potential memory lapses, Helen likely thought that Seraphina might not notice if a few paintings went missing.

Hence, it seemed plausible that she had intentionally taken some of Seraphina's artworks for herself.

Even though Sadie had impersonated Seraphina to retrieve the paintings, she had no knowledge of how many genuine pieces were originally in Seraphina's collection.

In the end, her deception had unintentionally provided Helen with a significant advantage.

As Sadie reflected on this, she couldn't help but feel a pang of resentment. While she lived in constant fear of revealing Seraphina's paintings, Helen was shamelessly using them to her own benefit.

It was clear that some people were unmatched in their audacity.

Given the circumstances, Sadie knew she couldn't risk exposing Helen's deceit. She forced a smile and said, "Ms. Quarto frequently revisits her paintings, sometimes producing multiple versions in a single year. This makes it hard to determine the exact creation date of each piece."

"I see," Helen remarked with a sly smile, "Ms. Quarto must truly be a perfectionist."

It was striking how Sadie could weave such detailed stories, especially since Helen hadn't touched a brush in years. Keeping up the pretense must be incredibly exhausting for her.

Sensing the growing tension, Ezra quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

"Haha... Anyway, let's consider today's matter resolved. I want to extend my thanks to Ms. Spencer and Ms. Fletcher for helping me out today. I'm delighted to have acquired a new piece by Ms. Quarto. As for the specifics, let's put those aside.

"Everyone, please continue enjoying the festivities. I'll have 'Peony Fantasia' framed and back on display soon. I hope you're all excited to see it!"

Seeing Sadie nearby, she decided to be forthright. "Yes, I've been close to Ms. Quarto for many years. Why do you ask, Mr. Westbrook?"

Sadie halted in her tracks, straining to catch every word of their conversation.

Ezra gave a slight smile and asked straightforwardly, "To be honest, I've admired Ms. Quarto for quite some time and would really like to meet her. Ms. Spencer, could you help arrange an introduction?"

Helen folded her arms and countered, "Since Sadie is Ms. Quarto's student, wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask her?"

"Please excuse my persistence, Ms. Spencer," Ezra said with a rueful sigh. "I've already tried that route, but Ms. Fletcher has consistently declined. I've never had the opportunity to fulfill this wish, and it has been quite disheartening."

Helen narrowed her eyes, uncertain if Ezra's admiration was genuine or if he was simply looking to acquire more of her work for financial gain. Given this ambiguity, she wasn't prepared to reveal her true identity just yet.

However, to give Sadie a bit of a challenge, Helen decided to acquiesce. "Alright, I can help with that. I actually have a meeting with Ms. Quarto scheduled in Glendale six months from now. I'll mention your request, but whether she agrees to meet you will be entirely up to her."
