Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 1036

Dora's hand trembled as she scooped up a bite of cake. Hera was so intimidating! She quickly put down the spoon, afraid to take another bite. She lowered her head and admitted her mistake. "Mommy, I know I was wrong."

"Oh? What did you do wrong?" Hera feigned surprise.

"I shouldn't have lied to you. Yesterday, I didn't go back to school to pick up my homework." Dora lowered her head, nervously twisting a napkin in her hands.

Hera pressed, "Oh? Then what were you doing?"

After some hesitation, Dora decided it was best to tell the truth. "I heard Eli was being harassed by some thugs, so I went over to help."

Hera's brows furrowed together. "Why didn't you call the police?"

"It wouldn't have helped. A lot of our classmates have been bothered by those guys before. They're really sly. They just say they were joking around whenever the police show up. We don't have any evidence, so there's nothing the police can really do," Dora explained.

"Plus, the leader even claims he has contacts at the station. Even if he gets arrested, he'll just be let out soon after."

Hera's eyes narrowed. She took out her phone and sent a message to Nathan to look into the matter. After that, she put her phone away and asked, "And what about Eli? I remember he's a grade above you. How did you two meet?"

Dora felt guilty. Here it was, the question she had been dreading. "Well, I got harassed by those thugs once, and he saved me. So when I heard he was in trouble with them, I had to help him out as a way of repaying him."

Hera didn't know her daughter had experienced something like that. "Why didn't you tell us about it before?"

"After that, the thugs left me alone, so I didn't want to make you and Daddy worry," Dora confessed.

Hera gently patted Dora's head, feeling a pang of sympathy. Her daughter was quite thoughtful. "You need to tell us right away if something like this happens again. Otherwise, we'll worry about you even more, okay?"

"Okay." Dora nodded.

Hera took Dora back to the school to pick up Dylan after he finished his classes.

When they returned to the clinic, Gideon had just arrived from Jedburgh, bringing some treats that Lilith had made for the kids.

Hera invited Gideon to stay for dinner. After they finished eating, she suddenly remembered Amelia and asked him, "Gideon, do you remember Amelia?"

Gideon paused at the name. "Why do you ask?"

"It's nothing. Dora's teacher called me to the school this afternoon, and I happened to run into her there. Her son is attending the same school," Hera explained.

"Her son?" Gideon was taken aback. "I thought she never got married?"

How did she have a son?
