After sending Jameson off, Samantha lay on the bed, feeling deflated. She stared at the ceiling in a daze, feeling a little distressed.
She felt so upset after learning that Shaun was about to get engaged. This proved she hadn't been able to move on from him.
However, what else could she do aside from trying her best to forget him? She couldn't try to steal him away from another woman.
Even if Samantha did, Shaun had to be willing to elope with her. Otherwise, she would be the only one making a fool of herself.
At that moment, the phone beside her suddenly rang. She jolted after glancing at her phone. Her heartbeat picked up, and the tension within her heart seemed to fade immediately.
Samantha immediately sat up on her bed and answered the phone. "Hey, Shaun."
After some time, there was still no response over the phone. She suspected that he had called her by accident. The bright glint in her eyes seemed about to diminish again.
"Hello? Did you call the wrong person? If so, I'm ending the call."
On the other end of the phone, Shaun hurriedly picked up his phone from the ground. Upon hearing Samantha was about to disconnect the call, he took a deep breath before quickly asking, "Are you feeling better?"
Although his concern came a little late, Samantha was still secretly happy. But she wondered what was there to be joyful about since he was getting engaged.
She replied spitefully, "I'm fine, all thanks to Jameson taking care of me."
Hearing that made Shaun feel rather bitter. If it weren't for him, Jameson wouldn't even need to take care of Samantha.
"Oh, is that so? That's good." Shaun sounded calm.
Samantha picked up on the nonchalance in his voice. She had no idea what was on his mind.
Hera told Samantha that it was Shaun who contacted Hera to save her. However, he didn't even bring that up and disappeared after Samantha woke up. By the time he showed up again, he was about to get engaged with Shannon.
He wanted to explain himself, but he didn't know what to say. He couldn't just mention that he had sacrificed his lifetime's happiness just to save her. He didn't want Samantha to feel that she was indebted to him.
Besides, nothing would change even if he did bring it up. Samantha already had Jameson by her side. She would only laugh at Shaun for overthinking things if he told her about it.
Besides, Shaun also wanted to preserve his dignity. He pretended to tease her, "Oh, news does get around fast. I didn't know you were keeping up with my affairs."
Samantha paused, believing that she really was overthinking things. Shaun clearly didn't care about her.
She acted like she had been provoked. "No one cares about you! If you didn't want people to know about it, you shouldn't have let the media take photos of you! After all, it's not easy for someone like you to find a match. I wish you two a blissful life together!"
These words seemed to irritate Shaun, who spat out through gritted teeth, "Thank you!"
Samantha refused to give in. "You're welcome! After all, strangers would also congratulate you if they witnessed such a happy occasion. It costs nothing to say a few blessings, am I right?"
