The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 348

Micah really is spoiled,Thad remarked, unable to hide his disapproval as soon as his wayward nephew’s name came up.

Back at the hospital, Ivy hung up her call and turned to head down the corridor.

Her phone chimed. Glancing down, she caught sight of the notificationand paused, frowning.

Jamison’s phone was still locked, but the screen lit up with a clutter of notifications: texts, WhatsApp alerts, app updates. The newest sound was a message from WhatsApp:

[Dale Sullivan: Dr. Ludwig, you’ve been MIA for agesoff on a honeymoon? The group chat’s on fire, but you two haven’t said a word.]

Ivy’s suspicion flickered.

Which group was he talking about? WhatsApp or some other chat? And you twoWho exactly did he mean?

Before she could dwell on it, a nurse pushed open the door, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Worried about Jamison, Ivy tucked her phone away and hurried into the exam room, just in time to see him waking up.

You’re awake! She rushed over, and because Jamison was lying facedown, she knelt beside the bed to speak to him. How are you feeling? You were delirious from that fever on the way here. I couldn’t wake you up at allyou scared me half

to death!

Jamison still looked pale and drained.

Seeing Ivy’s anxious, worried face so close, he managed a weak, crooked smile. You’re that worried about me?

Obviously! You’re my husband. If something happened to you, am I just supposed to become a widow?Ivy shot back, exasperated.

Jamison chuckled again, his eyelids drooping. It’s nothingjust a scratch. Your husband’s not about to abandon you.

She rolled her eyes at him, though her concern didn’t fade.

Oh, by the way, your brother just called,Ivy added, lowering her voice. He asked

Chapter 348

when we’ll be back. I told him your wound got infected and he wants us to come home for treatment. She gazed at him, worry in her eyes. Do you think you’re up for the trip? If not, we can head back tomorrow.

Yeah, that works.

Then call your brother later, let him know we’ll be back tomorrow.

Mm

In the exam room, the doctor redressed his wound. The pain brought sweat to Jamison’s brow.

His condition was still unstable, so the doctor recommended he stay overnight for observation. Jamison protested, insisting it wasn’t necessary, but Ivy wouldn’t hear of it. She insisted he follow the doctor’s orders and stay admitted.

Once your fever breaks, I’ll go back to the hotel, pack our bags, and bring everything here. If you’re better tomorrow, we’ll head straight to the airport from the hospital.Ivy laid out the plan as they settled into the hospital room.

Jamison was feverish and groggy. As the medication began to take effect, he shot Ivy a feeble glare before drifting back into a deep sleep.

Ivy sat beside his bed, watching over him, and let out a long, weary sigh.

How was she going to explain all this to the Ludwig family when they got back?

Mrs. Ludwig was certainly going to be furious.

Would she try to keep them apart for good?

Her phone buzzed. Ivy glanced downit was Katrina Lester.

Hey, Katrinashe answered, moving to the window and lowering her voice.

Ivy, when are you coming back? School’s about to startyou need to check in at the registrar’s office, remember?
