“Of course I didn’t sleep well. I’m never coming over again–nothing beats my own bed,” Ivy grumbled, tossing her complaints over her shoulder as she pushed the man aside and sat up to get out of bed.
Jamison made a move to get up as well, but after shifting slightly, he seemed to remember something and settled back against the pillows.
Catching his odd behavior, Ivy turned around, her face filled with confusion. “What, you’re staying in bed? Don’t you have work today?”
Jamison cleared his throat, a lazy grin curling at the corner of his handsome, morning–stubbled face. “Well… I’m not exactly in a position to get up right now.”
Ivy didn’t get it. Her gaze had been fixed on his face, missing anything unusual below. She asked, clueless as ever, “Not in a position? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Jamison shot her a look, then nodded subtly toward his waist. “Seriously? You don’t see it? I’ll just wait a bit before getting up–save you the trouble.”
Her eyes dropped, following his gesture, and suddenly her whole face went
crimson.
Mind spinning, at a total loss for words, Ivy scrambled for the bathroom, spitting out an indignant, “Jerk!” as she fled.
Jamison couldn’t help but laugh.
He hadn’t even done anything–if anything, he’d tried to be a gentleman and spare her embarrassment. And yet, somehow, he ended up the villain.
Women–impossible to figure out.
By the time Ivy finished washing up, Jamison was no longer in bed.
She remembered he’d set aside some clothes for her in the walk–in closet, so she went to look. To her surprise, even the underwear fit perfectly.
As she put it on, her cheeks grew hot again. That guy had insisted he had no. experience, but somehow he’d managed to guess her bra size with just a glance? What was he, a human measuring tape?
Muttering to herself, Ivy picked out a light green dress. She’d never bought anything in that color before, but it looked fresh and sophisticated against her skin–a perfect choice.
Chapter 306
She turned this way and that in front of the full–length mirror, pleased with how she looked. Maybe Jamison’s taste wasn’t so bad after all. Smiling, she left the
bedroom.
With finals at the end of the month and the new semester starting in September, she’d be busy soon. She needed to get home and hit the books.
In the living room, Jamison was on the phone. When he saw her, his eyes lit up, clearly stunned by how beautiful she looked.
He ended the call and crossed over to her, gaze sweeping look amazing. I knew I had good taste.”
her from top to toe. “You
Ivy shot him a look, not missing a beat. “You seem awfully practiced for someone who claims to have zero experience.”
Jamison just chuckled, hands up in surrender. “Honestly, it’s my first time buying clothes for a woman. But with you, Mrs. Ludwig, anyone would look good–even in a potato sack.”
