574.Chapter 574
“No,” Jefferson gritted his teeth, his eyes hardening. It wasn’t over yet–his years of planning couldn’t be undone by Nolan.
“Bring Darryl here!” Jefferson ordered.
Darryl responded, “Sir, I’m on the city tower.”
“Send word to him. Tell him to bring troops and stop Nolan.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Yehuda,” Jefferson called.
Yehuda stepped forward, asking, “What is your command?”
“Saddle your horse and make haste back to the governor’s mansion. Tell Rayden to move everything in the secret chamber immediately. We can’t leave Nolan any evidence.”
Yehuda asked, “What about you, sir?”
Jefferson’s eyes darkened. “If Nolan wanted to kill me, he needs proof. He’s surely discovered what’s in the secret chamber, but if you transfer everything before he arrives, then Nolan can’t touch me.”
“Understood.”
After giving these instructions, Jefferson turned to the housekeeper. “Go back and tell Mother to move everything from the estate as well. Make it quick, while we still have time.”
“Yes, sir.”
Once Jefferson finished giving his orders, he stood on the carriage, clenched his fists, and stared ahead for a moment before suddenly shouting at Nolan, “Prince Regent! The snow disaster in Woteria has caused countless deaths.
“Now, you lead your army to provide aid, but instead, you attack me without warning, framing me with false charges. Could it be that the relief effort is a lie, and that your true goal is to kill and silence witnesses?
“I’ve always considered the people of Centrina City my own, caring for them as family. Yet now, you bully and humiliate me. It’s enough to make one question the fairness of the heavens!”
“Protect Mr. Malone…”
“We can’t let these corrupt officials hurt Mr. Malone.”
“That’s right, Mr. Malone is a good man.”
Spurred on by Jefferson’s words, the citizens of Centrina City, who had already lost hope in the court due to the snow disaster and were angry, began to gather around him.
They didn’t know about the deceit or the massacre–they only knew that Mr. Malone, who had always shown them kindness, was now being targeted by the court.
So, they decided to protect Mr. Malone.
An arrow shot through the air, grazing Jefferson’s head.
Looking up, it was clear that Nolan had made his move.
From horseback, Nolan coldly stared at Jefferson and said, “The truth will come out, and I’ll judge it. If you are truly innocent, then surrender.”
“I, the Prince Regent of the kingdom, declare here that if the Woteria governor Jefferson is innocent, I won’t harm a single hair on him. But if he has slaughtered innocent citizens, I will have him skinned alive.”
At this point, Jefferson wasn’t a fool.
If he surrendered, he would surely die.
Nolan wouldn’t even wait for the evidence; he would probably just execute him on the spot.
So, he could never agree to surrender.
But running away wasn’t an option either.
His greatest support was the citizens now.
He had to make the citizens his shield, his wea Successfully unlocked!
Jefferson said, “Don’t mock me. From the very beginning, you never intended to spare me. Otherwise, why would you have the Black Flag Army storm the gates? Were you not concerned for the safety of the people? Are the citizens of Woteria not part of Bortenland? You hold great power, yet you remain blind to the suffering of the people. Your tyrannical behavior will only break their hearts.”

574 Chapter 574
“Exactly. The people of Woteria are part of Bortenland too”
“This is too much. What does it matter that you’re a Prince?”
“Mr. Malone treats the people like family. How can you just take him away?”
“Get out! You’re nothing but a bunch of bandits in uniform!”
“Get out!”
“Get out!”
The crowd continued to grow, surrounding Jefferson and blocking the Black Flag Army.
The term “bandits” made the Black Flag soldiers tighten their fists.
“Silence!” A cold voice suddenly rang out from above.
The crowd looked up, and there, standing on the city tower, was a slender figure, gazing down with cold, indifferent eyes.
The ethereal voice, filled with spiritual energy, echoed through the minds of every citizen of Centrina City. “These are not bandits before you. They are the Black Flag Army, Bortenland’s brave army that has fought on the battlefield to bring peace to the world.”
“You’ve never heard their name because you’ve been confined to Centrina City. But beyond this city, the name of the Black Flag Army is known to every corner of Bortenland, as is the name of the Prince Regent, the King of War.
“They are heroes of Bortenland, and your words, calling them bandits, are an insult to those who have protected you. If anyone dares to speak of them as bandits again, I will ensure their swift execution, no matter who they are.”
Eliza’s words reached every ear, and with the influence of her spiritual energy, the citizens, who had been blinded by Jefferson’s words, quickly regained their composure.
As the people regained their senses and looked at the Black Flag Army in front of them, they instinctively stepped back. The soldiers, tall and mighty, looked intimidating–even though they hadn’t drawn their weapons… Wait, they hadn’t drawn their weapons?
If they were truly unconcerned for the people’s safety, wouldn’t these soldiers have drawn their weapons by now?
The citizens realized this only after hearing Eliza’s words. They had been under the illusion that the Black Flag Army was a threat, but now they could see that they hadn’t even drawn their swords. They weren’t the aggressors.
Eliza’s spell or technique seemed to echo in their minds, repeating the words “Black Flag Army,” “War over and over.
Gradually, many of the citizens began to waver.
*“Guardians
They stepped back, some turned to Jefferson and asked, “Mr. Malone, are the Black Flag Army really the brave soldiers who have protected us?”
When these words were spoken, Jefferson’s heart sank. He would have gladly killed the person who dared to speak.
If he denied it, he would dishonor the national heroes.
If he said “no,” Nolan could kill him on the spot without needing any further reason.
The Black Flag Army’s reputation and military achievements were beyond the authority of any mere governor to challenge.
The people of Centrina City could claim ignorance, but Jefferson wasn’t so lucky.
As a governor, he certainly knew the names of the Prince Regent and the Black Flag Army. He knew of their victories, their deeds for Bortenland.
So, if he denied it, his life would be forfeit.
Jefferson looked around at the citizens now doubting him. If he admitted Nolan and the Black Flag Army had brought peace to Bortenland, everything he had said before would be meaningless.
The citizens would no longer support him; they would step aside, letting Nolan and the Black Flag Army through.
At that point, his death would be inevitable.
Jefferson didn’t know what to say.
