Chapter 66 What’s Your Gain?
‘Declan, if you don’t want to ruin Mr. Hudson’s business relationship with us, then do yourself a favor and stay away from their family I’m going to have dinner now, so you better figure out where you’re staying tonight. And if you can’t think of anywhere, you know where to find Celeste.”
With that, Amara slammed the phone down. Declan clutched his chest, feeling the familiar tightness that signaled his heart condition might flare up again.
Decian thought, it’s all this damn Celeste’s fault. She clearly hates me, so why the hell did she suddenly agree to let me stay with her? Is she planning something malicious against me?
Declan took a deep breath, kicked the door of his house in frustration, and reluctantly went to knock on Celeste’s door “Ugly freak, open up
Celeste heard the noise from inside her room. She put on her mask and walked to the door, opening it to find Declan glaring at her menacingly. With a disgusted expression, she said, “You’re supposed to be Mr. Huxley, Didn’t your parents teach you any basic manners or respect?”
Declan snorted at Celeste. “My manners and respect are reserved for people I actually care about, and clearly, you, you ugly freak, aren’t on that list. So if you think I’m going to respect you, dream on.”
Celeste thought, ‘Declan’s certainly a handful, but if I wanted to, I could teach him a lesson
Celeste folded her arms and said, “If you’re so unwilling to respect me, then you can’t stay in my house. You’ll sleep outside tonight.”
With that, Celeste slammed the door shut, leaving Declan utterly shut out outside.
The door’s force made Declan stumble back, his anger flaring as he kicked it. “Celeste, don’t push me too far. Open this door, or you’ll regret it.”
“When you’ve learned to call me sister, then I’ll open the door. For now, I’m going to bed. Call me when you’ve figured it out.” At the mention of Celeste, Declan seethed at the door, fuming with frustration, while Celeste skipped back to her room, satisfied and ready to rest.
Celeste thought, ‘The first step in training my troublesome little brother starts today.
After Celeste left, Declan pounded on the door, his fists pounding relentlessly. Thankfully, it was just her and Marcus living upstairs, or his actions would be causing a real disturbance.
Celeste thought, ‘Right, he’s causing a disturbance. I could have security come up and handle him, maybe even teach him some manners while they’re at it‘
That seemed like a good idea. Celeste smiled as she dialed the management number.
They arrived quickly, within five or six minutes, and soon Declan’s shouting echoed from the hallway. “What’s going on here? I’m not disturbing anyone–I’m just knocking on the door!”
The security guard pulled out his phone and showed Declan a video of him kicking the door like a maniac.
“Sir, the video clearly shows that not only were you disturbing the peace, but you also deliberately kicked the owner’s door. There are footprints all over the wall, and repairing that will be a hassle. You’ll have to pay for the damage.”
Declan thought, ‘What? Do I have to pay to kick the wall twice?‘
Declan shrugged off the security guard’s touch. “I was kicking my sister’s door. She and the neighbor didn’t say anything. What right do you have to drag me away?”
“Sir, are you sure the person living in that apartment is your sister?”
Though reluctant to admit it, Declan nodded. “Yes.”
“But the person who called to report the disturbance was her.”
Declan thought, ‘What? Was the person who called to have me dragged away Celeste? That damn ugly freak–what is she trying to do?‘
“Celeste, you ugly freak, open the door!”
“Celeste!”
“Open the door!”
Successfully unlocked!
The security guard saw Declan start pounding on the door again and quickly grabbed him. “Sir, please stop disturbing Miss Sinclair. We need you to come with us.”
Declan thought, ‘Go where? I’m not going anywhere.‘
Declan struggled against the security guard’s grip. “Let go of me! I’m not causing a disturbance. The person inside is my

Chapter 66 What’s Your Gain? sister–Celeste, open the door!”
With a click, Celeste opened the door, having finished watching the scene unfold. Declan broke free from the security guard’s hold and rushed toward her.
“You ugly freak, tell these security guys I’m your brother! I didn’t mean to cause any trouble–tell them to stop trying to drag. me away!”
Celeste crossed her arms, her expression cold as she stared at Declan. “What did you just call me?”
Declan frowned. “Ugly freak!”
Celeste made a slight, dismissive sound and turned to the security guards. “Take him away. I don’t have a brother who constantly calls me ugly freak.”
With that, Celeste started to close the door. This time, Declan panicked–he didn’t want to be taken away. He grabbed the door and gritted his teeth. “Sister, don’t do this! What do you gain from me being dragged off like this?”
“The benefit is that you’ll learn to respect me. You’ll call me sister.”
“You-”
Declan thought, ‘She called the authorities to make me call her sister? She’s going too far.
Celeste watched him with a mocking smile. Declan took a deep breath and asked, “If I call you sister now, can I come in?”
“Hmm, come in then.”
Once Declan was inside, Celeste turned to the security guards with an apologetic smile. “Sorry about this, everyone. My brother’s a bit difficult to manage, so I asked for your help. Thanks for your trouble. You can head back now.”
“Alright,” the security guards responded before leaving. Once they were gone, Celeste closed the door and skipped over to stand beside Declan.
