The Return Of His Unrivaled Ex-Wife (Joanna) novel Chapter 1227

In the kitchen, Joanna was helping the children make dumplings, preparing to make a few home-cooked dishes personally.

Bruce appeared like a ghost, silently creeping up behind Joanna. He stood there, rigidly staring at Joanna.

After a while, Joanna turned around to get something and saw him. "Ouch, you scared me. Why are you standing behind me in silence? You scared me."

Bruce didn't say anything but just looked at Joanna with a heavy expression.

"What's wrong?" Joanna asked gently.

"It's... It's okay!"

"Then wash your hands and come over to help me make dumplings."

"Alright!" Bruce walked over like an automaton.

Joanna looked at him suspiciously, feeling that Bruce seemed to have a lot on his mind.

"He was still acting like a crybaby just now, wheedling and begging for a hug. Why was he so silent now?" wondered she.

"Honey, did something happen again?"

"No!" Bruce's expression tensed up, and he forced a stiff smile.

Seeing this, Joanna became even more worried. "What's wrong with you? You don't look good. Did Aria say something to you again?"

After everything they'd been through, how could Joanna not see that something was bothering Bruce?

"No! Really!" Bruce didn't make dumplings but just walked straight over and hugged Joanna tightly in his arms.

Bruce hugged her tighter and tighter as if they were going to separate in the next second.

Joanna was even more stunned. Her heart was in her throat.

"Bruce, what's the matter? Please don't scare me."

"It's okay. It really is!" Bruce's eyes turned red as tears fell.

"What happened? Don't make me anxious, okay?"

"It's okay. It's just... It's just that my face hurts a lot after the surgery!" Bruce said, looking weak and helpless. He leaned on Joanna's waist and rested his head on her shoulder, sobbing.

He was too tall and hunched over Joanna like a mastiff squatting on a lamb.

When Joanna heard this, the tears in her eyes instantly froze, and her facial nerves twitched.

"Silly, you scared the crap out of me. I thought something had happened!

"Be good. We won't do it next time. You look pretty good now!"

Bruce sniffed and hugged her even tighter. However, there was a hint of sadness and coldness in his eyes.

He didn't want to tell Joanna about the organization, nor did he want her to be on tenterhooks and afraid.

He swore in his heart that no matter what, he would keep Joanna and the children safe.
