Nolan nodded and said, "Take Lense's body and give him a proper burial."
Then, he glanced at Harper, who looked utterly defeated and lost. In a calm voice, he said, "Harper, from today onward, you'll be the head of your family."
His words left Harper stunned.
"Me? The head of the family?"
Nolan nodded. "Since you were the one who spared these people, you are now responsible for them. Don't worry, no one will oppose you, nor will they have the guts to do so. After all that has happened today, your family will rise from the ashes again.
"But whether it thrives or falls depends on how you lead them. Harper, if you can't even do this, what else will you be capable of?"
Harper looked at the surviving members of the Norberg family and said solemnly, "Nolan, I'll take on the role of the family head. But from now on, I ask that you no longer target my family. We have repaid the debt owed to you, so we are even.
"And if any of my family commits any wrongdoing again, I'll personally deal with them. Likewise, we promise that we will never go against you again."
Nolan gave a nod and then said, "Do as you please."
After saying this, he sighed and added, "Let's go. The Norberg family has been dealt with. Next, we need to have a discussion about Myth Group and the Benton family."
As he spoke, a glint of determination flashed in his eyes. Clearly, he knew that while today's events seemed to mark an end, they might actually just be the beginning.
Just as he was about to leave, Fang gritted his teeth and stepped forward. "Mr. Greene, what should we do with all these bodies?"
Pierce noticed the flicker of hatred in Harper's eyes and felt a pang of concern. This kind of emotion was dangerous. Instead of completely wiping out the Norberg family, Nolan had spared Harper, but that didn't mean he wasn't ruthless.
After all, if he weren't ruthless, could he have done all that he had done today? Obviously not.
The only reason Nolan had let Harper live was out of respect for Pierce. This was something Harper needed to understand clearly. Otherwise, if she ever provoked Nolan, she would die before she even knew what hit her.
"Harper, you can hate him, but I hope you keep that hatred buried deep. Otherwise, you're just being foolish. Not only will you fail in getting revenge, but you'll very likely lose your life in the process. I'm not joking with you. You've seen how powerful he is. Do you think you can survive if he decides to kill you?"
Harper gritted her teeth and spat furiously, "He's a monster who deserves to rot in hell! Tell me, who is he really?"
