The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 596

At this moment, the Duo of Doom were utterly consumed with rage.

They had already been defeated, standing on the brink of death. But even now, they had to endure Nolan's mockery.

It was pure humiliation, to say the least.

Nolan looked at them and said calmly, "Sorry to say, but you're overthinking it. I never intended to toy with you. I simply believe that Pierce's reputation is far more important than your lives. Besides, from the moment you chose to side with the Norberg family against me, you should have been prepared to die. After all, if I were the one who lost today, I doubt you would have spared me either."

These words left the Duo of Doom in silence.

Because Nolan was right—if Pierce hadn't intervened, if they had been the victors instead, they wouldn't have spared him either.

But in this world, there were no such second chances.

After a moment, the Duo of Doom looked at Nolan and said, "Mr. Greene, for the sake of the Benton family and Mr. Benton Senior, spare us this one time. We swear, if you let us go, the Bentons will not come after you. But if we die here today, they will never let this go. This is the Benton family we're talking about, with Mr. Benton Senior at the helm. I believe you understand what choice to make."

It was yet another threat.

Looking at the Duo of Doom, Nolan sighed and said softly, "Do you know what I hate the most? Threats. Lately, I've had to deal with far too many overconfident fools thinking they can intimidate me. It's gotten exhausting, to say the least."

Here, a look of dejection filled his eyes. "And because of those threats, I lost a friend. That's why I called Pierce back this time. I want everyone to understand one thing—from now on, it's best not to make an enemy out of me. Don't even think about it, because if you do, people will die.

"Don't bother using the Bentons to threaten me. Since they chose to involve themselves in this, they are already my enemy. Even if they don't come after me, I won't let them go. So, you can rest easy on your way to hell."

After Nolan finished speaking, he turned to leave.

At that moment, the Duo of Doom knew that they had no chance of survival.

No—there was one last chance.

But at that very moment, a scene unfolded before the Duo of Doom that they simply couldn't comprehend.

Many among the crowd reacted differently upon witnessing the moment,

For the ordinary spectators, there were shocked gasps.

For the Norbergs, however, excitement erupted—some nearly jumping for joy, repeatedly shouting for them to kill Nolan.

Yet, Scarlet, Fang, and even Pierce—the true powerhouses present—remained completely expressionless, as if they didn't care at all whether Nolan lived or died.

More importantly, even though Nolan was being held hostage, he didn't tremble in the slightest. It wasn't just that he wasn't afraid of death—it felt more like he was completely confident, as if he had nothing to fear at all.

As the Duo of Doom remained frozen in confusion, Nolan suddenly sighed and said, "Didn't I say you two deserve to die? You really are completely deserving of death."
