The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 544

Fang raised his sword high.

At that moment, Duane felt the weight of his life slipping away. From the look in Fang's eyes, he could see clearly that he truly intended to kill him. Fear finally overtook him.

"No, no! M-Mr. Fang, I was wrong! I swear, I won't seek revenge—I promise I won't! Please, don't kill me! Don't kill me!"

But it was too late.

Fang sighed and said, "If only you'd understood this from the start and spoken with a little respect, things wouldn't have come to this. Unfortunately, it's too late now. You've run out of chances."

With that, he swung his sword down. Blood gushed from Duane's neck, spraying across the ground. Duane collapsed into a pool of his own blood. Even up till his final moments, he still couldn't believe that this was how he would meet his end.

At that moment, Preston nearly went crazy. "No, no! This can't be happening! Fang, you bastard! You deserve to die—you must die! Dad, wake up! Please, wake up! Fang, I'll kill you! I swear, I'll kill you!"

Fang looked at the enraged Preston and said coldly, "If not for the fact that Mr. Greene wants to deal with you personally, do you really think you'd still be alive? Or do you think death would come so easily for you?

"Just wait a little longer, and you'll understand that your father was granted mercy by being cut down so swiftly. And very soon, you'll envy the fact that he died so quickly and painlessly."

Meanwhile, Nolan had entered Eastland in his car. Inside the vehicle, Megan and Jeanne sat across from Nolan.

"Nolan, now that you're in Eastland, there's no turning back," sneered Megan coldly. "Don't think for a second that the Eastern State is entirely under your control. This place is more dangerous than you could ever imagine."

Nolan merely cast a cold glance at Megan, saying nothing in response. But that single look was enough to send a chill down Megan's spine.

She couldn't shake the feeling that something was different about Nolan. Ever since entering Eastland, it was as if he had become an entirely different person. Even without speaking a word, he exuded an icy presence that was downright terrifying.
