The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 495

"Megan, you face… What happened to you?"

Although Jeanne had many grievances with Megan, and even now felt a bit smug seeing her in this state, she still found it hard to believe.

Filled with rage, Megan wasn't sure who to take it out on. But as soon as she saw Jeanne, her anger flared up even more.

Megan shouted at Jeanne in a voice filled with fury, "What happened? Can't you see for yourself? I've been beaten! Beaten by Nolan, the same guy who wanted to give you a chance to skyrocket. Are you happy about this, Jeanne?

"I've known for a long time that you were upset with me, thinking you're the best and wondering why I should be on top. Now, seeing me like this, are you feeling pretty damn good about it? Like you've finally gotten your revenge?"

All the color drained from Jeanne's face while her heart burned with anger.

It was clear that Megan was taking out her frustration on her, yet Jeanne found herself too afraid to say a word in defense.

After all, just because Nolan had the nerve to hit Megan didn't mean Jeanne had the right to mock her. If Jeanne stood up to Megan today, tomorrow, Megan could have her fired and even send someone to deal with her.

As soon as the words left Megan's mouth, Jeanne went pale.

"How is that possible? Are you sure you're not mistaken? Isn't Nolan just using the Baxter family's power to act so arrogantly? How could he be that powerful? This can't be true."

It wasn't just Jeanne who couldn't believe it—despite witnessing everything firsthand, Megan still struggled to accept what she had seen. It was just too outrageous, too terrifying. This harsh reality was something Megan simply couldn't accept.

Megan looked at Jeanne with a cold smirk and said, "You little slut. I bet you just can't wait to climb into Nolan's bed now that you know how powerful he is."
