Jeanne's house was her lifeline. It was everything to her. Selling it would be worse than death.
But Jeanne wasn't at her wits' end yet—there was still one option. She could confront Nolan directly.
"All you know how to do is bully people like me, who have no power or connections! Why don't you go after someone like Megan Turner?" Jeanne snapped, her voice filled with defiance.
Alaric merely smiled and shook his head. "We will. Ms. Fisher, you've been informed. Whether you comply is up to you.
"Goodbye," he said curtly, walking away without even attempting to negotiate.
Jeanne glared at his retreating figure, her voice trembling with anger. "You want my house? Over my dead body. Nolan, is this how you intend to torment me?"
With that, she slammed the door shut, seething with rage as she set off toward Megan Corporation.
At Megan's house, she was alone when Alaric arrived with the same agenda.
However, Megan's response was swift—she slammed the door in his face and sent him away without hesitation. The idea of taking her money was laughable to her.
Besides, she held Nolan in the palm of her hand. As long as that was the case, what else mattered?
As for all of this, Nolan hadn't been directly involved. However, without his approval, no one would have dared to take the initiative to approach.
Nolan, meanwhile, had taken refuge at the Baxter residence, enjoying some peace and quiet. But even he knew such peace wouldn't last long.
As expected, Archie soon approached him, his tone cautious. "Mr. Greene, George Weiss is here."
Leave? He couldn't leave. If he left now, it would mean the complete ruin of the Weiss family.
"Please, Mr. Baxter, I beg you. Just one more favor—relay one message to Mr. Greene for me. Just one sentence, that's all I ask!"
Archie studied George's pitiful expression and sighed. "What message? I'll decide if it's worth passing along."
George leaned in, his tone urgent. "It's critical—tell Mr. Greene this: 'There was a mistake with the person who saved him.' He'll understand, and I'm sure he'll agree to see me."
Archie's expression grew serious as he heard this. Anything involving Nolan's past life—saving incident was no small matter.
"Are you telling the truth, Mr. Weiss? This is not something to joke about."
