The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 407

"What's going on here?"

"How is Mad Dog here? Among all the forces we deployed, his group was the one I trusted most. If he hadn't insisted on taking a break, he wouldn't have even needed to oversee things personally."

"But now… What is this supposed to mean?"

Gregory's composure wavered as his gaze landed on Mad Dog, who was missing an arm.

It was hard to believe that his top fighter, Mad Dog, someone he could always count on had reduced to this state.

"And Nolan? Wasn't he in Bellington? How is he here too?"

"Could this be someone from Bellington?"

Gregory's men, their teeth clenched, stepped forward.

"Gregory, let us handle this. Not only has this guy injured our men so brutally, but he's probably behind the trouble with our other groups. And now, he dares to come here looking for a fight? We'll show him just how bold he really is!"

Gregory's eyes narrowed as he spoke in a low, steady voice.

"Look closely. Is this the same master-level fighter who attacked before?"

Even as he said it, Gregory dismissed the idea with a shake of his head.

"No, it can't be. The build is different, the clothes don't match, and the direction doesn't add up. It seems this time, we're dealing with another formidable enemy entirely."

A moment passed as Gregory's jaw tightened, his eyes flashing coldly.

"Let them come up."

His subordinates instantly protested.

"That's too dangerous, Gregory! If this person is as strong as he seems, he could pose a direct threat to you. We can't allow it!"

"Exactly! Let us take care of this. Together, we're more than a match for any master. And with the number of men we have here, even a god wouldn't leave alive!"

Gregory shook his head firmly.

Mad Dog's scream was deafening, a sound of pure agony that echoed throughout the building.

The nearly 100 men downstairs froze in place, watching helplessly as their once-dominant Mad Dog was reduced to such a pitiful state. Fear rippled through them, a profound dread of the man before them freezing them in place.

The only thing that could subdue a devil was an even greater demon.

Upstairs, Gregory and his subordinates watched the scene unfold on the monitor, their faces dark and cold.

"This is beyond provocation. Gregory, do we still need to entertain this? Let us take him out!"

"Exactly, Gregory! Let us strike now!"

Gregory's face turned even grimmer as he silenced them with a cold glare.

"Shut up! Let him come up!"

With that, Gregory sank back into the sofa, took a long drag on his cigarette, and exhaled slowly. His expression twisted into something fierce and menacing. His mood wasn't just bad, it was dangerously foul.
