The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 244

"That bitch sure hides her true colors well!" Jeanne said through gritted teeth, and her eyes turned red in anger.

Megan looked at her and said with a chuckle, "There's an even more shocking news. I'm worried that you might faint in frustration after hearing it."

Jeanne frowned. "What is it? Don't tell me Audrey's seducing other people."

Megan smiled and shook her head. "She's just seducing Mr. Baxter now. However, he's the head of the family now. The Baxters had a family meeting yesterday, and Mr. Archie wasn't there. Instead, Mr. Shaun was there, and he has taken over the role of the head of the family for now. Lincoln has approved it too.

"Do you understand now? Now that Mr. Shaun is the head of the family, it makes sense why Audrey is in such a hurry. After all, once she marries him, she'll be the matriarch of the Baxters."

Jeanne was utterly speechless at that moment, thinking how great Jeanne was at keeping up the act. However, she still couldn't wrap her head around the huge change in the Baxter family.

"That's impossible, right? After all, becoming the head of the Baxter family is a huge event, but there was no news about it at all. Besides, isn't Mr. Archie still a healthy man? Why would he retire so suddenly? This is so weird."

Megan smirked and said, "It's not that weird at all. After all, the bigger a family is, the greater the internal conflict will be. Since it has happened, nothing else could be done about it. Kara has scored the jackpot as many people will be attending her party today."

After saying that, she shook her head. "Let's stay out of their business and just enjoy the show. We should hurry up and leave now. I really don't want to miss out on anything today."

When Jeanne heard that, she nodded. Not only did Megan want to witness everything that was happening that day, but she felt the same way as well.

At that moment, Lincoln knocked on the door and entered the room. When he saw Ironhead, he scoffed and turned to Shaun. Then, he said solemnly, "Your dad has been refusing to eat since yesterday. I'm sure you know about it, right?"

He was infuriated at that moment. When he noticed how bright the smile on Shaun's face was, he became angrier. After all, Archie was Shaun's actual father. However, Shaun didn't care about Archie not eating at all.

Shaun looked at Lincoln and said with a smile, "Lincoln, I know about it. He's just being angry, and I'm sure everything will be alright after a couple of days. Don't worry. Nothing will go wrong."

Upon hearing that, Lincoln became even more furious. He couldn't believe Shaun would say that. He wondered if the latter was going to let Archie starve like that for two more days.
