The President's Accidental Wife novel Chapter 1397

'What would he do if he knew it was a scam?'

"Uh...It’s getting stuffy in here. I'm going out for some air." As soon as Brad saw his mother coming, he winked at her secretly, lifted the quilt, and got out of bed to leave.

Luke stood up to follow.

Brad pointed to the next ward, "Daddy, I'm going to spend some time alone with a friend in the next room. Wait here. I'll be right back. Okay?"

Brad had no qualms when he lied, "He had lost all his hair. He thinks he looks ugly. If people see him like this, he will cry."

Hearing this, Luke frowned and did not follow.

He knew Brad would be happy to have friends playing with him at times like this.

Then Brad moved towards the door. When he closed the door, he mouthed his mother, "Go ahead!"

Brad had done his part. The rest was up to his mom!

Luke took out his phone and called the Athana hospital again, "Where are you? You haven't left yet? What are you waiting for? Listen, if you can't arrive here on time, you’ll be fired!"

Luke's face clouded over with anger, and Eileen was flustered.

Seconds later, Eileen stepped forward and snatched Luke's phone.

Luke stared at her, and his glare was

glacial.

Eileen shook her head and said emphatically, "I just wanted to tell you that Ruben and I are not engaged. And Brad needs you..."

Luke’s heart was thumping wildly, but he didn't let his face show any emotion, "Is your fever so bad that you're delirious?"

"I don’t have a fever. I'm sober. I'm not kidding!"

Eileen began to explain, "My engagement to Ruben was fake. He asked me to pretend to be engaged to him to reassure his ailing father, and I said yes."

She had been so determined before, so Luke didn't believe her at all.

"Do you expect me to believe that?"
