Arthur glanced nervously at his daughter, only to find she wasn't paying any attention to his reaction.
"..."
Arthur pursed his lips, "Dad, that's not what I meant. I was just wondering... aren't they rushing things? We haven't even set a date for Vivienne's wedding yet."
Yorick pondered for a moment, then spoke slowly, "Their wedding should have happened by now. It was Sasha who insisted that Vivienne's biological father must be present at her wedding. Then she fell into a coma, and the wedding was delayed. It's not appropriate to postpone it any further. You, as her father, have been obstructing the young couple enough!"
"It's about time we all gathered here to settle on a wedding date for the kids."
Yorick understood Arthur's nitpicking towards Percival; after all, he himself wasn't too keen on letting Vivienne marry so young!
The Linklater family had waited years for their first granddaughter, who turned out to be so exceptional. Naturally, they wanted to keep her at home for a few more years!
Had Vivienne not been involved with Percival before returning to the Linklater family, Yorick would have chased away any suitor with a stick!
But considering the young couple had been together for so long and had even gotten their marriage license, it was no longer appropriate to interfere.
In the end, Yorick left the final decision to Vivienne, "What do you think, Vivienne?"
Vivienne raised her eyebrows, glancing at Arthur with a look that was both there and not, "It's time."
Arthur, "..."
Sigh!
There was nothing he could do!
His little darling was set on her path, and there was no turning her back.
Yorick nodded, "Alright! Then let's set the date for the wedding today, Vivienne, remember, no matter how strong you are, your family will always have your back!"
Vivienne nodded, "Thank you, Grandpa!"
Around ten o'clock, Richard and his family arrived.
The attendance was full, not only were Percival's parents, Nathan and Cecilia, there, but Holly was there too, with a smiley Isolde by her side.
The importance placed on Vivienne was clear as day.
Seeing this, Yorick's smile deepened as he went forward to chat with Richard.
Nathan and Cecilia respectfully greeted Yorick.
Percival then nodded to Arthur and Sasha in turn.
Yorick and Sasha nodded in satisfaction, and Arthur, albeit reluctantly, also nodded, acknowledging his son-in-law.
After exchanging a few pleasantries outside, they entered the hall.
Once they had a moment, Vivienne approached Holly to say hello, "Aunt Holly."
Holly responded with a smile, "Vivienne, now we're truly family."
Vivienne hummed in agreement; she quite liked the feeling.
Having family and her beloved by her side.
Isolde hugged Vivienne, her fluffy hair rubbing against her, "Vivienne, I've missed you so much. Can you hurry up and marry my brother so I can see you every day?"
Vivienne, amused, asked her, "Did your brother put you up to this?"
Isolde blinked rapidly, pouting, "Can't I miss you without him saying anything? Or is it that your heart has room only for my brother and not me..."
As the elders discussed her wedding inside, Vivienne decided to take Holly and Isolde for a walk in the backyard.
With Mr. Wolf taking care of things, she had nothing to worry about.
The trio made their way through a series of old-fashioned western corridors, emerging into a backyard that unfolded into a vast expanse of water lilies.
The sight of the lush greenery captured Isolde's full attention instantly.
Excitedly grabbing Vivienne's hand, she pointed towards the aquatic garden and exclaimed, "Vivienne, look at these water lilies! How can there be so many colors? They're absolutely gorgeous."
Holly, too, was struck by the serene beauty of the scene.
Taking a deep breath, she couldn't help but marvel, "To cultivate such exquisite water lilies here, Yorick must have put in a great deal of effort."
Vivienne nodded in agreement. "Indeed, these are grandpa's pride and joy. He tends to them himself, and besides my mom and me, hardly anyone else is allowed to pick them."
Ever since the incident where Winston fell into the pond, the old man had been even more protective, forbidding strangers from getting too close.
Isolde's eyes gleamed with desire upon hearing that picking the flowers was an option, fixating on a dew-kissed, radiant bloom within reach.
She bit her lip, then swallowed the words she was about to say.
After all, she was here as a guest and didn't want to impose on Vivienne.
Vivienne, noticing her fondness, especially since which little girl doesn't adore flowers, said, "Which one do you like? I'll pick it for you. It'll stay fresh in a vase for a couple of days."
Isolde's face lit up, her dark eyes sparkling, "Really? Vivienne, I'd love that pale pink one over there."
"Sure thing."
