Connor's smirk deepened as he tossed aside the switchblade and leaned against the wall nonchalantly. "I've always been curious, how did you manage to tamper with the plane without any of us noticing?"
With that, Connor dropped a portable speaker to the ground, and instantly, music filled the air. "Familiar, isn't it? This is your kids' favorite song."
Lighting up a cigarette, Connor continued, "In your absence, they've come to accept me. Even the Perez family has been nudging her towards me. See, you're just that replaceable."
Despite the music echoing through the empty hall, Connor's voice remained crystal clear.
Percival simply watched him with a cold gaze, unresponsive to Connor's taunts.
Vivienne was busy disposing of something when she suddenly heard a voice approaching from afar.
She peeked out the window until she spotted something in the distance slowly approaching.
"Just as I thought," Vivienne muttered with a smile, then she climbed out the window and ascended towards the rooftop.
As she passed the sixth floor, she heard the music.
Connor shifted slightly to the left, with Percival tracking his every move, ready to follow.
Connor pulled out a remote and pressed a button in front of Percival, triggering explosions throughout the building floor by floor.
As they moved, Percival felt the vibrations under his feet, prompting him to start running on the sixth floor.
When Connor reached a window, Percival's brows furrowed in concern.
A ladder dropped down above Connor, and with a smirk, he waved at Percival, "See, you and your spouse still can't catch me. Might as well give up. I'm running out of patience. Go check on your wife downstairs; she might have already been dealt with by one of my sculptures."
After saying that, Connor grabbed the ladder and was taken away by a helicopter, leaving Percival behind as another bomb exploded.
Covered in dust, Percival could only sit in a corner to ensure he wasn't injured.
Connor felt exhilarated as the building merged with the darkness, his plans might have failed, but he had many more opportunities.
"Let's see who lasts longer," Connor muttered, his gaze turning sinister toward the sixth floor.
As he climbed into the helicopter cabin, a dagger pressed against his neck before he could sit down, freezing him in place.
"Quite the runner, aren't you?" a voice devoid of emotion whispered into Connor's ear.
Connor stiffened, disbelief in his eyes as he saw Vivienne, "How did you escape?"
Vivienne smiled, "Guess?"
Connor chuckled, "Abigail really didn't see wrong in you, Vivienne. You indeed are full of surprises!"
Eyes twinkling, Vivienne retorted, "Indeed, her judgment has always been poor, choosing you, still a waste."
"Me!" Connor started, then laughed, "You think you've won? You're clever, but even a tiger naps."
Vivienne landed the helicopter on the abandoned building's rooftop, where Percival awaited, to find only a man lying in a pool of blood.
"Wasn't your grand scheme to lure us here and bury us alive? Did you really think your airline's history would go unnoticed?" Vivienne stepped down from the helicopter.
Percival had just unceremoniously tossed Connor out of the helicopter, and as Connor caught sight of his fallen henchman, the hatred in his eyes grew more intense by the second.
Clearly, Vivienne wasn't the least bit fazed by his intimidation. Slipping on her gloves, she pulled out a small vial from her pocket.
Connor watched in horror as she forced a black pill into his mouth. He tried to spit it out, but Vivienne swiftly kicked him in the gut, leaving him no chance to resist.
"This is a new drug we've been working on. Consider it a parting gift for all the trouble you've caused over the past five years."
The moment Connor swallowed, the drug took effect. His skin began to deteriorate rapidly, and soon, blood tears streaked down from his eyes. As his body decayed, it grew intensely hot, until all that was left on the ground was his lifeless husk.
Gasping for air, Connor looked up to see Vivienne and Percival watching him with cold detachment.
As he felt his life force ebbing away, Connor cracked a smile. "Do you really think I'm Abigail's last play?"
Vivienne and Percival exchanged a look before Percival grabbed Connor by the hair, his head flopping around like a ragdoll. "Spill it!"
Connor's laughter grew even more deranged at Percival's impatience. "You idiots! So what if you caught me? There's still a chance for Abigail to come back. You'll never figure out who he is in this lifetime!" With a final shout, Connor's eyes rolled back, and he passed out, possibly for good.
His words echoed in Vivienne and Percival's minds. Who was 'he'?
