Eliza couldn’t help but marvel at how the Malone family had managed to construct such a flawless city within the confines of a cave. The craftsmanship was truly astonishing.
The houses lining the streets weren’t just comparable to those in the outside world. They were even more extravagant, showcasing an almost excessive level of luxury.
Calling it a “hidden paradise” wouldn’t do it justice. It was more like a sprawling city tucked away in the mountains.
Had this place remained undiscovered, it could have served as the perfect hideout for the Malone family, even if their rebellion plans fell apart.
But their secret refuge had been exposed.
That was wealth, unimaginable wealth.
Even Eliza, who had grown up surrounded by luxury, couldn’t help but be awestruck by the sheer scale of this mountain city. Even in Hasen City, where the rich and powerful were abundant, constructing a city of this magnitude, even a small one, would be an almost impossible feat.
It was clear that the Malone family’s fortune was beyond comprehension.
But this staggering wealth was built on the lives and blood of countless victims.
To outsiders, this place might seem like a dream, but to those who knew the truth, it was nothing short of a nightmare, cold, eerie, and deeply unsettling.
A glint of icy disdain flickered in Eliza’s eyes as she took in the grotesque excess surrounding her.
After stepping into the Malone family’s main house, Sariyah led Eliza and Nolan to the main hall to sit.
“The servants are still tidying up the rooms. If Your Highness and Your Grace don’t mind, why not have some dinner first? It happens to be mealtime.”
“Of course not. Please make the arrangements, Lady Sariyah.” Nolan replied calmly.
She was clearly stalling, but then again, weren’t they all?
As if they’d actually prepare guest rooms. It might just be a couple of prison cells.
Nolan, his expression composed, played along with Sariyah’s suggestion.
Sariyah immediately smiled. “In that case, I’ll have everything arranged right away.”
“Your Highness, Your Grace, do take your seats. I hope everything is to your liking.” Sariyah, her smile brimming with hospitality, invited Eliza and Nolan to sit.
As they were about to sit, hurried footsteps thudded outside the hall, growing louder with each step.
“Grandmother, I hear we’ve got guests tonight. A banquet in the main hall, huh? And you didn’t invite me?”
As the young man’s voice faded, he strode into the doorway with a swagger. His eyes flicked over Eliza and Nolan like they were beneath his notice.
Successfully unlocked!
He was a brash youth, clearly rebellious by nature His features bore a reserrolance to the man they had encountered at the city gates earlier, though he appeared younger.
He called Sariyah “Grandmother,” making it clear they weren’t from the same generation. Sariyah said, “Vance, since you’re here, come and greet the Prince Regent and the Holy Lady.”
