481.Chapter 481
It wasn’t until they were inside that Caleb finally noticed the looks Matthew and the others were giving him. He was taken aback “Matthew, Anthony, what are you guys looking at me like that for?” It was really uncomfortable.
Caleb was oblivious to his own insensitivity and spoke his mind without a care.
Upon hearing this, Gabriel glanced at Caleb with disdain and said to Matthew and Anthony, “Go and have the servants prepare lunch. Must I do it myself?”
Matthew’s face turned dark with frustration. “Can’t the servants handle it?” He still had to keep an eye on Caleb and also check with Sophie to see if she had been mistreated by him.
Anthony also spoke up. “Father, my leg is not very convenient, so I won’t go.”
It should be mentioned that Caleb was the one who had caused Anthony’s lower body to become disabled.
When Caleb had come to the Duke’s estate with a broken hairpin, asking Sophie to marry him, Anthony had been so angry that he almost died. Although he was saved, he ended up being paralyzed from the waist down.
Caleb’s leg was broken mercilessly by Gabriel because of this incident.
After all this back–and–forth, the result was that Sophie, whom Anthony had been so protective of, had ended up marrying Caleb. Moreover, everyone knew she had seduced him through drugging–such an undignified manner.
Thinking about the contrast between the past and the present, Anthony felt a mix of emotions.
“Do as I say. If I tell you to go and give orders, do it immediately. Not convenient with your legs? If it’s really not, then just stay put.” Gabriel didn’t want them to embarrass themselves further in front of others.
Benedict, sitting on the side, saw that their conversation was sporadic and only touched on a few well–known topics after a long discussion. He realized that Gabriel was trying to keep him from hearing something..
So he stood up. “Father, you can chat with Caleb and the others. I’ll go check on Matthew and Anthony.”
“Alright, tell the kitchen staff to hurry up and don’t treat our guests poorly.” Gabriel didn’t object.
“Yes, Father.” Benedict walked out expressionlessly.
“Father, why are you being so distant with me? I may be married, but I’m still your daughter. How can you treat me like a guest?” It sounded like Gabriel was trying to distance himself from her. Sophie didn’t want to cut ties with the Duke’s estate. So when she heard this, she immediately said in a pitiful tone.
