As soon as Wolf finished speaking, the others couldn't stay seated.
"Did you think you could just waltz in here and take over? Who do you think you are?"
"Brat, you're still wet behind the ears. What makes you think you can show off like this?"
The verbal onslaught was relentless. If words were water, Wolf would have drowned in their spit.
Seeing this, Antoine glanced at Wolf before turning to them. "Enough. All of you, step out."
One of the senior members scowled. "Mr. Chamberlain, we've been with you for years. You know our skills. Otherwise, we wouldn't still be here. Are you actually letting this kid take over and kicking us out because he started spouting nonsense? That doesn't make sense, no matter how you look at it."
"Exactly."
Antoine slammed his hand on the table. "Enough! I know what you're capable of. But right now, as the chairman, I'm ordering you to step out and take a break. Any objections?"
His gaze swept over the rest of them.
But one of them was stubborn and refused to back down. "Mr. Chamberlain, I'm not convinced. He hasn't shown any skills, yet you trust him just like that.
"What if he's a mole from the other side? If he ruins everything while we're gone, it won't just cost the corporation money, it'll destroy all our hard work."
That left Antoine momentarily speechless.
Another team member stepped in. "Mr. Chamberlain, my skills are among the best in this team. Here's an idea—let's have him and I each set up a virtual server simultaneously.
"Whoever does it faster and more effectively stays. If he loses, he just has to apologize to us. If I lose, we'll leave without another word."
He then turned to Wolf. "Well? Are you up for it?"
Wolf nodded. "Okay."
A virtual server? Wolf had taught himself that the moment he first touched a computer. This was like challenging a master with an amateur's hobby.
The two sat in front of their computers, fingers poised over the keyboards, waiting for the signal to begin.
"Three, two, one, go!"
The moment the countdown ended, their fingers flew across the keyboards, lines of code rapidly filling the screens.
The man was halfway through his task when he glanced sideways at Wolf, and his fingers instantly froze.
He stared in disbelief. "H-How are you this fast? Impossible! There aren't many people in this field who can outpace me, let alone finish half faster!"
Wolf stretched lazily. "Huh? Then you need more practice. This is way too simple. It's no challenge at all."
The man's face flushed red with humiliation, but he couldn't argue. The proof was right in front of him. Any further excuses would just make him look like a fool. Head lowered, he silently stood up and walked toward the door.
The others, seeing their strongest member defeated, followed suit. If even he couldn't compete, their presence was even more pointless.
Antoine observed everything with growing admiration, his gaze full of praise for Wolf. He approached and patted Wolf's shoulder. "Well done, Wolf. I'll step out so you can work without distractions. The stage is yours. I'll check on you later. Let me know if you need anything."
Wolf nodded. "Okay."
With that, Antoine turned and left. Outside, he saw the team packing their belongings. He walked over and said firmly, "Follow me."
They paused, then trailed after him into his office.
Once everyone was inside, Antoine's voice turned sharp. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Mr. Chamberlain, we were outmatched. We're leaving on our own."
Rubbing his temples, Antoine sighed. "Did I say you were fired?"
The lead programmer looked up, confused. "Then what do you mean, sir?"
Antoine stepped closer. "I know your capabilities. I'm not kicking you out of the corporation. Take a couple of paid days off and come back refreshed."
Meanwhile, Wolf was operating two computers simultaneously, always preferring to achieve victory with minimal cost.
First, Wolf took a glance at the Wendell Corporation's stock, then dove into what he did best—hacking.
No matter how robust the Wendell Corporation's defense systems were, they were nothing in Wolf's eyes. His small hands flew across the keyboard, and with one final keystroke on the "Enter" key, the Wendell Corporation was instantly breached.
Wolf scrolled through their financial reports and other data, muttering to himself, "It's just like all those other companies. It looks clean at first glance, but it's full of gaps once I dig deeper."
With that thought, Wolf secretly created an identical system and slipped it into theirs. Now, no matter how much money they poured in, it would all flow into the system Wolf had built.
Once he was done, Wolf leaned back in the chair, hands off the keyboard, and sighed, "I'm bored. This is too easy—it's no challenge at all." Then, he closed his eyes for a nap.
Half an hour later, Antoine decided to check on Wolf's progress, but he froze when he opened the door and saw Wolf sleeping. This wasn't what he'd expected. He'd assumed Wolf would be locked in a fierce battle with the Wendell Corporation.
Antoine walked over and glanced at the screen, seeing nothing unusual.
The noise must have woken Wolf, who blinked sleepily and looked up. "Mr. Antoine, you're here."
Antoine nodded. "I came to see how you're doing. Why isn't there anything on the screen?"
Wolf rubbed his eyes. "There's no need for that." With a few quick keystrokes, a website popped up. "Mr. Antoine, look at this."
Antoine's eyes widened. "Isn't this the Wendell Corporation's system?"
Wolf grinned. "Yep. They don't know I've already hacked them. Every dollar they invest now just disappears into this program I made. We don't have to spend a single cent more."
Antoine was stunned. "What? Are you sure?"
Wolf pointed to the top-left corner of the screen. "Positive. See here? I'm the controller now. All their money goes into this. I just tweak the backend data, and that's it. It'll take them a while to realize their money's gone."
Antoine let out a relieved laugh. "You're unbelievable. I'm impressed. I have never expected you to pull something like this."
Wolf scratched his head. "It's no big deal. I was just hacking."
