The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call (Wynter Quinnell) novel Chapter 1827

Thormort spoke in a low voice. "The experiment is about to begin. I'll make sure this virus is something no one can resist."

Stuart gave a thumbs-up over the phone. "That's the spirit. Once you're done, Project Eclipse will officially begin."

"Understood."

With that, the call ended. All they needed was a strong start to ensure the rest of the plan would proceed smoothly. Stuart was already fantasizing about the devastating blow Cascadia would soon face.

...

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Gilcolm's team was preparing for the "accident". He held a map of Cascadia, guiding his team to identify peak traffic hours. Unbeknownst to them, their every move was being watched by the Special Unit's members.

From the shadows, Osian observed the suspicious group and picked up his walkie-talkie. "Huxley, walk past them and see if they're holding a map."

Huxley Elmeren, carrying a briefcase, stood up from his seat and walked toward Gilcolm's group. As he passed by, he glanced sideways and confirmed, "Captain Balch, they're holding a map."

Osian switched to the channel with everyone in it. "Everyone, keep an eye on these individuals. Rotate surveillance shifts. It's better to be safe than sorry. We must ensure the people's safety."

"Copy that!"

In a nearby room, a child was furiously typing away on a computer, his fingers dancing across the keyboard. It was Wolf.

Suddenly, he noticed an intrusion in the energy system. His eyes lit up, and he focused intently on the screen.

Wynter had tasked him with monitoring the energy hub and other critical systems at all costs. Wolf was fiercely loyal to Wynter—a fact well-known within the Special Unit. The only person who could command Wolf was 001.

After a flurry of keystrokes, Wolf realized the intruders had no idea they were hacking into a fake system—one he had created himself. Seeing that they hadn't even deployed a virus, Wolf pouted.

How boring. Wolf thought that they might as well do something since they'd already invaded the system, or at least play around a bit. It was so dull for him to just watch and monitor the situation.

The intruders had overlooked one crucial detail—Wolf's reputation as the legendary hacker wasn't just for show.

Wynter never went into battle unprepared. As the Special Unit's commander, she had set up contingency plans before entering the formation. Wolf's preparations were thorough, and his hacking skills were too valuable to waste.

The intruders, oblivious to the fact that they were hacking a fake system, were likely celebrating their success. They had no idea that someone like Wolf existed—a hacker capable of building his own systems from scratch.

Wolf then opened his social media app and stared at his chat history with Wynter for a long moment. He thought to himself that he must have a feast when Wynter came back!

With that in mind, he wasted no time. Using the intruders' own hacking techniques, he traced their IP address. After a few more keystrokes, an IP address popped up.

He sent it to Osian, along with a message. "This is Wolf. Take your team and apprehend them at this location."

Osian replied, "Copy that, Wolf. The mission will be accomplished."

Osian immediately gathered his team and headed to the address Wolf had provided.

Meanwhile, Stuart remained unaware of his impending exposure. He was busy instructing his tech personnel, "Deploy the virus now. Let's see if we can fully control the energy hub. That way, we'll have the upper hand."

At that moment, the office building was already surrounded. Osian and his team had reached the 23rd floor. After neutralizing the guards at the entrance, they quietly moved inside.

Just as Stuart finished giving his orders, Osian kicked the door open. His team rushed in with their weapons drawn. "Don't resist! Put your hands on your heads and move to the corner!"

The tech personnel quickly stood up and lined up against the wall.

Stuart looked at the scene and sneered. "It looks like we've been exposed." He glanced at his tech team. "Useless."

Osian stepped forward. "Put your hands on your head. No talking."

Stuart raised his hands slowly, a cold smile on his face. "This is just the beginning!"

Stuart thought that even if his team was compromised, as long as the other parts of the plan remained intact, Cascadia would still face a devastating blow. Losing control of the energy hub was just a minor setback.

As Stuart was being arrested, Gilcolm's team had just finished scouting the area and were preparing to leave. But as they turned around, they found themselves face-to-face with the Special Unit.

"Damn it," Gilcolm cursed under his breath. He didn't need a closer look to recognize the Special Unit. He quickly backed away, hoping to escape under the cover of night. But the Special Unit members had already surrounded them from all sides.

"Give up! Don't resist!" the leader shouted through a megaphone.

Gilcolm had no choice but to comply, hoping that the others could still carry out Project Eclipse. His capture didn't matter as long as the plan succeeded.

Little did he know, this operation was a comprehensive strike. Not only were Stuart and Gilcolm captured, but Asketil and the others were also discovered by Wolf through surveillance.

Wolf immediately reported the situation to the Special Unit, who swiftly took action.

The threat was neutralized in time, but Wolf didn't seem particularly happy. He slung his small laptop over his shoulder, pouting as he glanced at the towering skyscrapers.

Wynter wasn't here, and neither was Dalton. Everything was so boring.

Atwater had said Wynter was on a special mission and would be back soon. But Wolf had waited so long, and she still hadn't returned.

Wolf's little ears drooped as he took a few steps forward. Then he paused and snapped his head up. He figured that Wynter would be back if he simply took care of these people!

Inside the formation, Wynter had no idea that Wolf was now contemplating the idea of tearing down the "home" and bringing about the end of the world.

Within the formation, everyone looked up at the natal light hanging in the clouds, now dim as a firefly. Those who had come to mock Wynter were everywhere. Isidore, in particular, wore an expression that suggested this outcome was inevitable.

It didn't matter what had happened to Wynter—whether she had taken Mt. Nyxvarn's golden encounter or obtained some secret manual. Her spiritual roots and cultivation level made it impossible for her to open the Requiem Pillar's grand formation, let alone prove her loyalty and righteousness.

Once her natal light truly extinguished, she would no longer be worth discussing. It wouldn't matter even if Mt. Nyxvarn temporarily gained some fortune. Her seniors would still meet their end, and the entire sect's golden encounters would fall into his hands.

Isidore's schemes had never changed. It was just that his status and position were so high that others found it difficult to see through him.

The four disciples were deeply worried about Wynter. Feradach already regretted what he had said earlier. The Requiem Pillar's golden encounter wasn't something just anyone could claim.

It was the lingering soul of the greatest cultivator of that era. This was no mere activation of a formation—this was the grand formation choosing its master!

Mt. Lunther's elders staggered back, looking at their shattered artifacts and then up at Wynter standing before the formation gate.

"Impossible..." The disciples who had mocked her mediocre cultivation now found their Arcane minds shaken, unable to even hold their artifacts steady.

This scene, if spread, would undoubtedly be the most mind-blowing news in the entire cultivation world. No one could have imagined that a disciple known for her outrageous behavior would be chosen as the grand formation's heir.

The surrounding murmurs grew as all eyes fell on Wynter and Mt. Nyxvarn.

Isidore's face turned red. His hands trembled as he watched the golden encounter he had sought his entire life was taken by someone he considered useless. And it had all happened because of his own actions!

Isidore wanted nothing more than to interrupt the Ascension Rite. But he wasn't qualified!

The entire cliffside was bathed in golden fortune. Yet, Wynter seemed indifferent to it all. She simply cast a glance at the dragon in the clouds, raising an eyebrow. Was it just her imagination, or did the dragon truly seem familiar?

She furrowed her brows as she lowered her voice. "Whitley?"

The dragon in the sky hesitated, its proud head dipping slightly. Confusion flickered in its golden eyes before fading into clarity. It then drew closer, gently pressing its horns against Wynter's palm.

Wynter's eyes softened. "It really is you."

Beyond the formation, Whitley was just a socially awkward teenager. But within it, his presence was overpowering. A single flick of his tail was enough to make the entire mountain range tremble.

If Whitley was here, did that mean Wolf's true form was also present?

Wynter thought about this as she glanced toward the formation. In the modern world, both Whitley and Wolf had damaged spiritual senses. According to ancient texts, the cause lay in human hearts, which invited divine retribution.

Not only did Ancient Beasts have to endure thunderstrike trials, but even Saviors like Whitley and phoenixes had to evade these attacks. Failing to do so could result in the destruction of their souls.

With his clumsy nature, how could Wolf possibly evade such retribution?

Wynter lowered her gaze. If she could see Wolf before leaving the Human Sacrificial Formation, perhaps she could lessen his suffering.

It was said that Wolf had a taste for dragons, and with Whitley nearby, there was a chance he might appear. But now wasn't the right time. With so many sect members present, Wolf would be hunted the moment he showed himself.

In mere seconds, countless thoughts ran through Wynter's mind. At last, her eyes settled on a particular figure.

She had long wanted to ask Dalton how he had figured out Wolf's personality so well after only meeting him twice. He even knew exactly what Wolf liked. Anyone would think Wolf belonged to him.

Wynter paused, a smile tugging at her lips. Why hadn't she considered this before? His...

Now that she thought about it, it wasn't impossible. But what kind of person could claim an Ancient Beast like Wolf as their own? It couldn't be an ordinary malevolent spirit—any such being would tremble at the thought of being devoured alive by him.

That was why, in the Mirror of Truth, he had appeared as he did—distant and regal, like a deity beyond mortal reach.

That wasn't an illusion but was likely his true form.
