As the situation took an unexpected turn, the poisonous insects, once fixated on Dalton with predatory intent, now scurried away in a frenzy—some almost crashed into a tree as they fled in terror. In the end, Sablemare was left alone to face Dalton.
Sablemere studied Dalton's face. Upon noticing his cold expression, it tentatively uttered words of discord.
"Those cultivators are quite interesting. They sent their disciples to subdue the demons without telling them of the formation. Even I wouldn't dare venture to that place. I doubt those average disciples could survive."
Hearing that, Dalton shot Sablemare a condescending glance. His gaze was calm yet carried an unmistakable depth. Despite his stoic expression, Sablemare couldn't help but sweat nervously, daring not to speak further.
Dalton's eyes carried a deep, piercing intensity. They seemed to hold the weight of a silent interrogation even in their calmness. As such, the demons often held back from causing chaos in his presence.
Sablemere trembled in fear. Just as its legs were about to give out, Dalton said in a cool voice, "It's the first time I've heard you're afraid to go there."
Sablemere was confused. Whatever did he mean?
Holding the parasole, Dalton gestured for the puzzled Sablemere to lead the way. He slightly raised his chin, showcasing his striking side profile.
Though Sablemere was left speechless, it held back the curses on its tongue. Still, it couldn't fathom why Dalton even appeared in that forsaken place to begin with.
Normally, Dalton wouldn't venture near that area, as his presence would have a negative impact on the demons. The demons had recently heard that he had taken to staying in Demonore.
If he ever sought a change of scenery, he would visit Sivinas, a town in the Wretched Ground. Other times, he would make a trip to Kongeborg.
Yet, Dalton had never stepped foot on the demons' territory—not even Duskmire, an area shrouded in black mist.
Despite the calm tone, Sablemare felt as though its soul was weighed down in pain.
"M-My lord, I only wish to help. If you truly have feelings for that woman, I-I have a plan," Sablemare offered. Alas, it had failed to grasp the true meaning behind Dalton's words.
Dalton stopped in his tracks and cast Sablemare a cold glance. "What feelings do you think I have for her?"
Sablemare's jaw dropped open, and its face turned ashen.
Stopping Sablemare from delving any further into heaven's will, Dalton coldly continued, "Some morons in the Wretched Ground mistook me for a sacrifice. She saved me, and now I'm her boy toy. That's our relationship."
Sablemare was utterly speechless. Dalton might as well admit his feelings toward Wynter outright!
