Chapter 287 Hug
The matter concluded with Shevchenko’s apology, and the onlookers were content. To humble the haughty Nievic, Genera! Perkins had to be the one to do it!
Jade, weary of gazing at Shevchenko, departed without a farewell.
She felt a twinge of regret. Why had she gone to such lengths to find someone so unworthy? It was truly mortifying!
Natasha still had to rely on Shevchenko’s investment, and Gerard also had to rely on him for political achievements, so she asked him if he was fine.
“Fine?” Shevchenko’s face contorted into a ferocious smile, his teeth itching with hatred. “How can I be fine? Look at my face!”
Natasha was just about to say something, “Mr. Shevchenko…”
“Has he just declared his intention to take part in the talent gathering?” Shevchenko queried, astonished.
“Yes,” Natasha replied, her voice barely audible as she gave a slight nod of her head.
Shevchenko nodded fiercely and said, “Alright, let’s go to the investment meeting now!”
“Not only do I wish to invest in constructing a factory in Neva Province, but I also desire to expand the investment tenfold!”
“Let’s find out if the officials of Neva Province will take my side or his!”
“How can he possibly expect to live a ‘peaceful life‘ after offending me? It’s simply not possible!”
Gerard couldn’t help but let out a rueful smile. He had been concerned that Shevchenko would not be keen to invest in the factory’s construction after this incident, but he had not expected it to provoke such ire in Shevchenko.
He was determined to invest heavily and expand the investment tenfold, all in order to give Nathan a harsh lesson.
Natasha was taken aback, then elated. If Shevchenko had indeed increased the investment tenfold, the East Bay Deepwater Port project would be hers!
Having secured control of the East Bay Deepwater Port, what other strategies could the Giradia Group employ to counter her in this seven billion dollar project?
“Let’s go,” Shevchenko said, wiping away the blood on his swollen, wasp–stung face with a wet towel. “Let’s enter the arena!”
Shevchenko made up his mind to ruthlessly deal with Nathan at the fundraising conference so that he would have no place in the entire Neva Province!
Having tended to him, he would spin around to search for the buxom secretary and observe how she would withstand his
advances!
Once Nathan, Wendy, and Gussie arrived at the hotel, the meeting had yet to start, so Nathan allowed Gussie to go to the restroom to freshen up and fix her makeup.
Nathan smiled at Wendy and said, “Compared to Natasha, you are much more ‘humane“!” before engaging her in
conversation.
“Really?” Wendy gave Nathan a disinterested look.
Nathan suggested, “Why don’t you try altering your style? A smile here and there, plus some more fashionable attire, could do
wonders.”
“Perhaps this will provide the Giradia Group’s employees with a revitalizing sensation, inspiring them to work even more diligently.”

“Why not put it to the test and see for yourself if what I’m saying is true?”
Wendy, however, scoffed at his words, remarking, “It’s clear Ms. Reagan trusts and admires you greatly.”
Nathan self–consciously touched his nose, feeling a bit embarrassed. Gussie’s constant teasing about his age was really starting to get to him.
“She seems to like you,” Wendy said.
“Really? I don’t think so!” Nathan was surprised.
Wendy exclaimed, “I never anticipated Jade to be so principled! This time, she’s actually siding with you.”
Nathan declared, “She is certainly a paragon of virtue. Yet, she stands with her moral compass, not with me. She is a soldier, and her mission is to safeguard the nation!”

Nathan was taken aback.
“I’m exhausted,” Gussie said, her face flushed and her teeth clenched, “I just want to hug you.”
“Sure thing!” Nathan exclaimed joyfully, extending his arms to embrace Gussie.
Gussie and Nathan embraced beneath a tiny newspaper shelter in the downpour that day. It was a moment of warmth and
comfort. What made Gussie feel even more cherished was that this time, Nathan had no weapon pointed at her.
Nathan felt that Gussie was still as flexible as ever.
Gussie pushed Nathan away a moment later, her voice filled with gratitude as she uttered, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Nathan grinned. “If you’re ever in need of a break, you know where to find me.”
Gussie gazed at his grin and sensed that he was plotting something mischievous.
“Let’s hurry up,” said Nathan, “or else Ms. Wendy might get the wrong idea if we stay here too long.”
“It’s really not very proper. You, the secretary, and me, the boss.”
“It’s obvious what will transpire between the secretary and the boss.”
As he spoke, Nathan winked ambiguously.
“Get lost, old pervert!” Gussie only felt that the warmth in her heart had been destroyed by him, and she gave him a punch in
a bad mood.
