Chapter 77 -77: Family of Three’s Daily Shopping Routine
Delilah Woods heard these words, lowered her gaze slightly, and looked at the little ginseng doll fluttering before her. She remained silent for a long while, finally biting her lip, her voice trembling softly.
“I choose the second one.”
After uttering these words, Delilah seemed to lose all strength, her body swaying gently. As she looked at the confused ghost child before her, tears slid uncontrollably down her face again.
“I’m sorry… I… I don’t want to give you up…”
But she was only eighteen.
She still had a long life ahead of her.
If she kept this little ghost, she would never forget the pain Micah Quigley had caused her.
She wanted a fresh start.
She wanted a life without Micah.
“Baby, I’m sorry, Mommy can’t keep you, I’m sorry, I’m sorry… sob, sob…”
By the end, Delilah was already sobbing uncontrollably.
And the ghost child, at some unknown time, began to float in mid-air, looking at his mother in confusion, helplessness written all over his little face.
Until Delilah choked on her words, uttering her final sentence.
“I don’t want you anymore, you… go.”
The ghost child heard her, his small body seemed to tremble. Scarlett Jennings lowered her gaze slightly, her eyes landing on the invisible line between the ghost child and Delilah.
Accompanied by Delilah’s words, the line suddenly snapped.
It broke and vanished without a trace.
Scarlett raised her hand, a spiritual light flew from her palm, and wrapped around the ghost child.
This time, the ghost child did not resist.
“I’ll take it away,”
Scarlett said softly, not comforting Delilah further. She turned and departed.
Downstairs, Scarlett unexpectedly saw Donovan Jennings and Luca Jennings still waiting in the car.
“You’re still here?”
She was indeed a bit surprised.
After all, both Donovan and Luca had their own commitments, and it was already rare for them to find time to visit the police station today.
She didn’t expect them to still be around.
Luca pursed his lips, unsure what to say, but fortunately, Donovan was more talkative.
“Since we’re out, there’s no rush to go back.”
Donovan, still sitting in the front seat, made space for Scarlett, waited for her to sit down, then asked her,
“Is everything taken care of?”
Scarlett nodded.
Donovan had witnessed her abilities and knew what kept her busy every day, but Luca was in the dark.
If not for accidentally hearing about her trip to the police station today, he wouldn’t have known she and Lucas had been involved in the online bullying case of a minor.
However, seeing her and Lucas getting along better filled him with relief.
He thought, his daughter, was meant to be lovable.
Although thinking this inwardly, Luca maintained a composed exterior.
Donovan asked again, “Anything else to deal with now?”
Scarlett thought about it; apart from the ghost child situation, she had nothing urgent.
As for sending the ghost child away, there was no hurry, so she shook her head.
“Perfect. Dad mentioned after you returned to the Jennings Family, we haven’t gone out together. So today, since there’s nothing much to do, how about we take you out shopping and having fun?”
