Scarlett Jennings stared intently at the small turtle in Ismeria Jennings’s hand, her expression somewhat complicated for a moment.
Lucas Jennings and Alicia Sharp had already rushed into the barrier, making a move to take Ismeria out. Facing Scarlett’s gaze, they suddenly felt a bit nervous,
"Sis, is something wrong?"
"Scarlett? What about that Evil God System? Is it over?"
They couldn’t see the system’s existence, so they cautiously asked, only to see Scarlett shake her head solemnly, then lift her hand to point at Ismeria.
Their hearts instantly raced, nearly holding their breath, as they heard Scarlett speak with a subtle tone, pointing at the turtle in Ismeria’s hand,
"It’s inside that turtle."
Ismeria looked bewilderedly down, not understanding what Scarlett was talking about.
Lucas and Alicia, however, caught on immediately, their eyes widening as they looked at the Wood Pattern Turtle in Ismeria’s hand.
The next second, Lucas reached out and swiftly slapped the turtle from Ismeria’s hand, while Alicia quickly picked up Ismeria, retreating while kicking the turtle on the ground far away.
The two of them, along with Ismeria, retreated outside the barrier almost instantly.
At first, Ismeria pouted, about to cry when her little cousin knocked away her turtle, but suddenly being picked up and running off, seeing Lucas and Alicia’s serious expressions, she became confused.
Not understanding, she decided to wait and see before deciding whether to cry.
Scarlett watched as the group swiftly retreated, holding her Peach Wood Sword decisively against the turtle that had been kicked and couldn’t turn over by her feet.
The turtle scrambled with its limbs, struggling in vain.
Looking down at it, Scarlett asked, "Are you coming out on your own, or should I force you out?"
The little turtle strained its neck to look at her, but the system inside showed no intention of emerging.
Seeing this, Scarlett intended to take action herself, but the next moment, it seemed as if she heard the system’s voice in her mind.
[I can’t come out, please don’t kill me!]
Startled, Scarlett looked at the turtle still struggling thoughtlessly under the Peach Wood Sword, frowning slightly,
"You can infiltrate my consciousness too?"
The system replied,
[My energy is nearly gone, I can only communicate with you through the energy of my subsystem on your wooden sword.]
It seemed worried that if it spoke too much, the human before it would impatiently drain its last bit of energy, directly offering its terms.
[I can’t do anything now, but if you keep me, I can tell you a secret. Otherwise, without me, that girl named Alicia Sharp will vanish too.]
The system quickly divulged a secret. Scarlett’s eyes narrowed upon hearing it, instinctively looking towards Alicia holding Ismeria outside the barrier.
After a long moment, she slowly withdrew the Peach Wood Sword pressed against the turtle’s belly.
Even so, the little turtle remained helplessly unable to flip over.
But the system inside the turtle secretly sighed in relief.
Good, Scarlett Jennings believed its words.
As long as she believed it, it could retain this last sliver of energy.
Though it couldn’t do much now, given time to regain its fortune, its energy could return!
Binding unintentionally to the little turtle was nothing, once it recovered a bit of energy, it could easily change turtle hosts!
With this in mind, Scarlett suddenly bent down, flipping the turtle over, and swiftly drew a Spirit Talisman in the air.
The next second, the talisman struck the little turtle, and its rune slowly seeped into the shell.
Then, she said coldly,
"Until I confirm you’re telling the truth, you’ll stay inside this turtle."
