The police station was bustling.
When the show’s guests and the crew entered the service hall, they unsurprisingly attracted quite a few sideways glances.
A man recently detained for lewd behavior, who had been brash and arrogant moments ago, nearly crumbled at the sight of so many cameras. Covering his face, he pleaded desperately with the officer escorting him,
"Officer, I was wrong—I apologize! I’m even willing to compensate the girl on the subway. Just don’t let the internet convict me publicly!"
He knew he’d be hounded online to the point where he wouldn’t be able to show his face in public!
The officer paused, momentarily stunned by the sudden change in attitude.
After all, on the way here, the man had stubbornly denied everything, even accusing the girl who reported him of having delusional tendencies, as though she thought herself incredibly attractive.
He’d expected to have to pressure him into admitting fault, but now... it seemed he’d saved some effort.
The man was escorted to the interrogation room in the back.
The officer charged with guiding the show’s crew immediately stepped up and led them inside.
After all, the service hall was intended for public use, and filming there without permission was strictly forbidden.
The police station had received notice from higher-ups long ago, informing them that the final episode of the immensely popular online paranormal reality show would be filmed at their station.
The officers were experiencing mixed emotions.
As materialists through and through, especially the frontline civil servants, most of them weren’t even aware of the Security Bureau’s existence.
Like the general public, the majority of them had only learned about the paranormal through the show and discovered the Security Bureau’s existence as a result.
There were still some, though, who hadn’t watched the show due to lack of time. They didn’t believe in anything supernatural either.
They just thought the higher-ups were playing into nonsense.
"Since your show’s guests and staff are so numerous, following discussions with senior management, we’ve decided to divide you into three groups. One will cover the front hall operations, one will handle fieldwork, and one will focus on interrogation and interviews.
Each group will be accompanied by designated officers. Over the next two days, please follow their lead, but try not to disrupt our regular police operations."
After giving these instructions, the officer hosting them was met with Director Clark’s polite and courteous response,
"Understood. Before coming, our director briefed all the guests and photographers to minimize inconvenience for our law enforcement officers. Each group will be joined by only two photographers, and no unauthorized filming of personnel will occur."
The officer nodded in approval and instructed the guests to divide into groups.
Dividing the cast into teams was second nature to Scarlett Jennings and the others.
Soon enough, the six were split into three groups.
Evander Simpson and Sebastian Carew were paired for investigation and interviews.
Ariel Zimmerman and Gregory Xander teamed up for front-hall operations.
Scarlett Jennings and Amber Livingston partnered for field patrol.
This grouping was fresh, sparking a reaction from viewers in the live stream.
["Ariel Zimmerman paired with Gregory? Won’t Ariel end up crying from bullying?"]
["How come other teams are made up of Mystical Sect members paired with celebrities, but Scarlett Jennings’s group has two Mystical Sect members? That’s not fair!"]
["Wait, isn’t Amber Livingston an influencer?!"]
While last episode featured Nathan White and this episode Gregory Xander—both tried-and-true members of the Mystical Sect—Amber Livingston had drifted away from showcasing his abilities after the first episode. Instead, he entirely focused on being the team’s mood-maker and occasional co-host, leaving audiences to pigeonhole him as an influencer.
Amber knew about the online speculation regarding him, but he no longer cared.
In fact, being paired with Scarlett Jennings made him feel extremely secure.
