The principal originally intended to question her about the Dragon God’s Power, but now, it seems there’s no longer a need to ask.
Just because he didn’t plan to ask, however, Scarlett Jennings had questions for him.
Looking at the slender figure standing by the mountain path entrance, the old principal felt a brief moment of nostalgia.
Once upon a time, someone had also blocked this mountain path, demanding again and again that he agree to her requests.
"I know you want to ask where your mentor is."
The principal’s words immediately froze Scarlett Jennings in her tracks. Her lips parted as if to say something, but before she could, the elder with the long beard stroked it in a gesture of helplessness.
"I can’t tell you, because that is a karmic matter between you and her. Some things can only be revealed by her, in her own words."
"But I can’t find her," Scarlett replied.
She couldn’t locate her mentor, nor could she glimpse her own destiny.
Her mentor had told her once that her mother was already dead.
But perhaps, someday, she might reappear.
Scarlett Jennings hadn’t understood the meaning of those words at the time, but when she wanted to ask further, her mentor had already vanished.
"Wait patiently. The people who are meant to appear will always appear,"
the old principal said with a meaningful tone.
People from the Mystical Sect always spoke cryptically, leaving things half-said.
Even Scarlett herself would sometimes hold back when discussing matters of destiny.
But when the listener became herself...
Scarlett Jennings almost wanted to challenge him to a fight.
Well, using the principal’s words, that would be called sparring.
However, such thoughts quickly retreated the moment she sensed the rippling spiritual power surrounding the old principal.
Forget it.
She never really expected to get answers simply by asking.
But this trip had confirmed at least one thing.
The reason she had been abruptly admitted to the Taoism Academy back then was likely due to her mentor’s arrangement.
She had thought it was her own decision to choose the academy, but in reality, it was her mentor who steered her there.
It wasn’t for her to find her mentor.
It was for something else entirely.
As for why, Scarlett Jennings had no idea.
Walking along the sunset-lit mountain path, she made her way step by step towards the dormitory.
Just as she reached the Benedict Stone Statue, her bag buzzed with the urgent sound of her phone ringing.
Scarlett glanced at the phone—it was Lucas Jennings calling.
She answered the call, and on the other end, Lucas’s voice was almost impatient.
"Sis! Tomorrow’s the weekend—are you coming home?"
Scarlett had only returned to the academy less than a week ago and had planned to use the weekend to catch up on overdue assignments. She wasn’t planning to go home.
But Lucas’s tone sounded vaguely off.
"What’s going on?" she asked.
"Something’s up!" Lucas sounded deliberately restrained but excited. "Something big happened at home—our brother and grandma are acting up again!"
Scarlett raised an eyebrow.
Acting up?
What kind of "acting up" could they be doing?
And then it clicked.
Acting stupid.
But Azura Loomis wasn’t even around—what kind of stupidity could they be engaging in?
Scarlett initially thought about ignoring it all.
Yet... she recalled the freshly distributed family business shares.
Scarlett thought to herself: money truly doesn’t come without strings attached.
"I’ll go back tomorrow," she said.
Might as well see if Azura Loomis had been captured yet.
With no sign of Azura, Scarlett still felt a faint unease gnawing at her. It was as if she had overlooked something important.
