The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon! novel Chapter 409

Chapter 409: Chapter 409: One Life, One New Soul

The news online was abuzz, and the girl who narrowly escaped death shared the story of how she was saved by her "goddess" in a fan group.

However, what they didn’t know was that at the scene of today’s suicide attempt, Scarlett Jennings, Nathan White, and Ashton Todd were nearby.

At the time, they had just completed their second newbie mission nearby. On the way, Scarlett noticed several cosplayers and was reminded of yesterday’s mention of the comic convention by the girl.

Just as she was about to ask about the location to go take a look, she suddenly heard an exclamation beside her,

"Ah! Someone’s jumping off a building! Quick, look at Xiaoyu’s livestream!"

Scarlett had an inexplicable sense of foreboding and immediately approached the person,

"Where’s the livestream of the jump?!"

The person looked perplexed at first, glanced at Scarlett, then seemed to recognize her and said, "Aren’t you that..."

Scarlett cut him off directly and pressed again, "Where is it?"

"It’s the tall building next to the comic convention! But it’s a bit far from here. Are you going over there?"

Scarlett nodded and was about to pull out her phone to search for the location when the person added,

"Hey, hey, it looks like they’ve talked her down. There’s nothing to worry about anymore. She’s been talked down!"

Others watching the stream nearby also let out sighs of relief upon hearing this.

Scarlett glanced at the person’s screen, where the camera zoomed in from a distance. The girl who had been standing outside the railing seemed to have been persuaded by the firefighters and was attempting to reach out towards one of them.

Just then, a hoarse female voice suddenly emerged from the crowd next to the livestreamer. It was slightly muddied but unmistakable to Scarlett,

The voice said,

"She will die."

The tone was firm and resolute, not just a random bystander’s sigh but more like... some kind of judgment.

The camera visibly shook at that moment, suggesting that the livestreamer had also noticed the voice.

And in that instant of shaking, the girl who had hesitated moments ago suddenly had a look of despair flash across her face after hearing something muttered by an old woman standing behind the firefighter.

The girl’s extended hand abruptly retracted, and in the next second, without any warning, she turned and jumped off the building.

The livestream video ended amidst a cacophony of screams.

And just before it cut off, Scarlett seemed to spot, within the blurred and shaking frame, the silhouette of a girl wearing a black hat and mask slipping away from the crowd.

Scarlett’s expression turned somber.

She found the hoarse voice from earlier unnervingly peculiar.

Though she’d never heard it before, the moment it reached her ears, her heart was filled with an unexplainable sense of repulsion.

After giving it some thought, Scarlett turned to Nathan and Ashton,

"I want to go check out the comic convention area."

Nathan glanced at the dense crowd on the street, his chubby face flashing with hesitation, but he still said, "A-a-alright, I’ll come with you."

If even the socially anxious Nathan agreed to go, Ashton had no objections. "Let’s go."

When the three arrived at the scene, a considerable crowd was still gathered.

The girl’s body had been removed, but the remaining firefighters and building staff were still handling the aftermath.

From a distance, Scarlett overheard one of the firefighters crying, "I swear, I had already talked her down..."

Nearby firefighters also looked visibly distressed.

Then came the furious roar of the firechief, "Didn’t I say to clear the area? How could unrelated individuals still be allowed onto the roof?!"

Handling such incidents required careful attention to the emotions of the suicidal person.

Too many people and too many voices could end up having the opposite effect.

Just like the young girl earlier...
