The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon! novel Chapter 402

Chapter 402: Chapter 402: This is a Ghost with Principles

Not exaggerating here.

The guy was so scared at the time he almost wet himself.

How deep was the grudge to haunt people even as a ghost?

"And then what happened?"

Ashton Todd asked curiously about the moment the ghost face lunged at them. His demeanor was less like a ghost hunter and more like a gossip enthusiast.

The guy was a bit annoyed but, out of respect for Scarlett Jennings, begrudgingly continued his story,

"We instinctively pulled the covers over our heads, and then he just stayed outside... yelling at us the whole time."

This time even Ashton Todd, Scarlett Jennings, and Nathan White couldn’t help but tilt their heads.

The three: ???

"You’re saying he didn’t leave but stayed right next to your bed, yelling at you? Didn’t do anything else?"

A girl nearby answered through her sobs,

"If he had done anything else, we’d already be dead by now."

Even just this scared them half to death; they didn’t dare sleep the entire night.

They almost suffocated from staying under the blankets.

The guy, however, was much calmer now,

"Isn’t there that treaty about humans and ghosts not harming each other or something? I guess he saw us hiding under the covers, so he just stood outside yelling instead."

Nathan White seemed to realize something while being slightly surprised, "There’s actually such a treaty in the Ghost Realm?"

Ashton Todd joined in with a sigh, "Looks like this ghost has rules to follow."

Scarlett Jennings: ...

Isn’t that just an internet joke someone made up?

Whatever. It’s not important.

Leaving 2003 behind, Scarlett Jennings showed little emotion as she entered the elevator but couldn’t help asking Nathan White,

"Senior, are you sure this is a mission for an Initial Rank?"

Nathan White heard her and immediately glanced at her nervously.

To be honest, he wasn’t so sure anymore either.

"Based on what that guy just said, the entity could not only interact with physical objects, create dreams, and even materialize in front of living people. These are not things a ghost who passed away just a month ago should be able to do."

A typical new ghost would struggle to accomplish even one of these abilities.

Some weaker new ghosts would even be destabilized by the positive energy of the living.

Though, there are vengeful spirits that can perform these feats.

Usually, these stronger vengeful spirits target individuals with whom they have life-or-death grudges.

It’s true the two families just now were disliked.

But the grudge doesn’t seem to warrant such drastic measures.

And it’s clear the new ghost had no intention of killing them.

"Are you suspecting that a vengeful spirit disguised as a new ghost is messing with people on purpose?" Nathan White asked in a low voice.

Before Scarlett Jennings could answer, Ashton Todd couldn’t help but click his tongue,

"Which vengeful spirit has that much free time?"

Scarlett Jennings shook her head, "What was clinging to those two families was definitely the Shadow Energy of a new ghost."

She was purely curious about where the new ghost got its abilities from.

Unless the entity was born extraordinarily gifted.

Or, like them—Masters—sometimes their soul power after death surpassed that of ordinary spirits.

It was unclear which category this ghost fell into.

...

It didn’t take much effort for them to drag the ghost out.

Ghosts like this typically stay in the place where they died. As 1803 has remained unrented since the death occurred, they entered easily.

Scarlett Jennings activated a Talisman, and Ashton Todd set up the array.
