Under the gaze of Instructor Sun and all the fellow students, Scarlett Jennings walked to the front of the room.
On the desk lay an array of prepared items.
She pulled out a Blank Talisman from the pile. Unlike Instructor Sun who slapped the Talisman on the panel for the students to see, she placed it on the desk according to her own drawing habit.
Picking up the vermillion brush, she first carefully examined the Talisman Paper that Instructor Sun had posted on the panel.
She looked every bit ready to copy it.
Below, a student whispered to the person next to them,
"This is exactly how she did it. The last time she learned Senior Brother Xander’s Rainmaking Talisman Formation, she just looked and drew a similar Talisman Array..."
The classmate beside was still somewhat incredulous that there could really be a genius who could learn it all at once, and couldn’t resist saying,
"Copying a Talisman isn’t just about drawing it as you see it."
A Spirit Talisman, to become functional, requires both the proper flow of the Runes and the grasp of Spiritual Energy, neither of which can be absent.
Some of the freshmen who also studied Talismanic have noticed that the flow of Instructor Sun’s Runes was somewhat different from the usual ones.
Even if it’s drawn with a single stroke, there’s still a sequence to it.
Some go from left to right, others from top to bottom, all of which are meticulously arranged.
But just now, although Instructor Sun began drawing from top to bottom, he unexpectedly veered back to the top midway.
Upon closer inspection, some freshmen couldn’t help but be amazed.
This Instructor Sun was being quite crafty.
No wonder he didn’t even bother to ask questions and just let her copy the Talisman; he was certain that it was a Talisman Scarlett Jennings hadn’t learned before.
The Talisman in front of them was clearly a modified Synthetic Talisman!
Modern Mystical Sect practitioners base most of their Talismans on heritage left by ancestors, yet many ancient Talismans have been lost to time, and only a few have been handed down.
Some Talisman Masters, while learning the ancestral Talismans, would repair some Broken Talismans or derive new ones.
Such as the Slimming Talisman, Exam Pass Talisman, and even hair-regrowth talismans.
Some of them are about changing the soup but not the medicine, that is, renaming the original Talismans based on demands.
Others are about legitimate research into the ancestral Talismans, improving them or creating Synthetic Talismans.
The former only requires a nimble mind, combining the actual effects of the Talismans to change the place and method of use.
But the latter needs solid foundations, and only a master who has made achievements in the art of Talismans can accomplish this.
Students aware of this looked towards Instructor Sun with noticeable respect or admiration in their eyes. Similarly, they felt a trace of sympathy for Scarlett Jennings.
If she couldn’t produce the Talisman, Scarlett Jennings’ reputation among the freshmen might be ruined.
Who knows, she might even be mocked just like Ashton Todd was just moments ago.
Clicking their tongues...
While the students quietly discussed amongst themselves, Scarlett Jennings on the stage finally withdrew her gaze and decisively began to draw.
She moved her brush steadily and smoothly, with deft yet fluid strokes, and without a hint of hesitation. Nonetheless, it took her a full five minutes to finish.
With the final dot of spiritual light from her brush tip, the Spirit Talisman was completed.
Instructor Sun’s eyes suddenly shone brightly beside her.
Seeing this, the students below became curiously eager, stretching their necks to see the result.
Stella Gibson also craned her neck, even half-rising to her feet, placing one hand directly on Ashton Todd’s shoulder.
Ashton Todd: ...
This classmate seemed small but had such strong hands.
No way, his shoulder must be injured; he ought to charge for this.
Muttering inwardly, his expression didn’t betray a hint of worry for Scarlett Jennings on stage.
As the students looked on eagerly, Instructor Sun didn’t play coy anymore. He stepped forward, first peeling off the Yellow Talisman he had attached to the drawing board, and then picked up the Spirit Talisman Scarlett Jennings had finished.
