Inside the car.
The road to the academy is somewhat quiet.
Scarlett Jennings glanced at Samuel Chalmers next to her.
The golden light covering his body brightly illuminated the entire back seat, making it somewhat difficult for her to discern his expression through the light.
After only a short glance, she decided to give up and directly asked him,
"Are you angry?"
Her straightforward question slightly startled Samuel Chalmers, yet his expression remained emotionless and he did not reply; instead, he asked back,
"Why do you ask that?"
"I feel like you are angry." Scarlett rarely looked puzzled.
She felt she hadn’t misspoken but for some reason, it seemed like she had upset him.
After some thought, she ultimately chalked it up to Boss Chalmers’ temper being quite unpredictable.
Especially with Boss Chalmers being a perfectionist, maybe her hairstyle’s slight asymmetry had annoyed him today?
Seeing her seriously analyzing the reason, Samuel Chalmers slightly narrowed his eyes and asked her again,
"If I were angry, what would you plan to do?"
Scarlett thought to herself, how would she know what to do?
Wasn’t she just asking him now?
But seeing Boss Chalmers showing no intention of explaining, she thought about it—having troubled him quite a bit today, maybe she should... appease him?
Thinking this, she suddenly took out two pieces of Yellow Talisman Paper from her small backpack.
Her hands quickly cut the Yellow Talisman Paper into the forms of little papermen, sized and shaped precisely according to Boss Chalmers’ preference, perfectly to the last detail.
Samuel Chalmers just watched her movements, the two little papermen not being unfamiliar to him.
Once Scarlett had finished cutting them, she quickly placed them on Samuel Chalmers’ legs.
"For you."
Samuel Chalmers raised an eyebrow, but as soon as Scarlett’s words fell, her hands swiftly formed a Sealing gesture, and in the next moment, Spiritual Energy pulled the two little papermen, which then sluggishly stood up on his legs.
With their slightly chubby figures, as soon as they steadied themselves, they first looked up at Samuel Chalmers, then in unison, bowed deeply to him.
Samuel Chalmers looked down at the little papermen standing on his legs, remaining silent.
Seeing he had no reaction, Scarlett thought for a moment, quickly recalled the Dharma Seal and spell Stella Gibson previously used to control dolls, and rapidly changed her hand seals.
The two papermen seemed to receive new instructions and began to dance on Samuel Chalmers’ legs, their movements progressing from clumsy to smoothly fluid.
Despite having no expressions, they somehow conveyed a sincere eagerness to please.
The corners of Samuel Chalmers’ lips slightly twitched, and the aura around him softened.
Scarlett, sensing the change in Samuel Chalmers’ emotions, also slightly curved her lips into a smile, again altering her hand seals.
The two little papermen began holding hands and spinning in circles.
Samuel Chalmers simply watched these two little creatures dance for quite some time.
It wasn’t something new; after all, whether it was drones dancing in the air or digitized virtual creatures, he could watch them anytime.
Those performances were even more spectacular than the clumsily dancing papermen before him.
But these two were different.
Samuel Chalmers couldn’t quite describe the feeling.
It was like he couldn’t clarify his feelings towards Scarlett Jennings either.
Unexpectedly having a "fiancée" in name, even though she never pointed it out, because of this relationship, Samuel Chalmers couldn’t just ignore her.
The more he cared, the more he subconsciously indulged.
The more he indulged, the more protecting her seemed like the natural thing to do.
By the time he realized, he had never actually resisted this sudden "fiancée".
It was as if she was meant to be there.
Compelled by some unknown force, Samuel Chalmers reached out his hand towards the two little papermen.
Noticing this, Scarlett’s thoughts stirred slightly, and the two papermen immediately jumped onto his palm.
