Drew said, “I don’t want you to get in trouble, so I came to check on you.”

“I’ll be fine. Don’t do this again.” Yvonne kept her head down, her ears tingling from the brush of their skin. “If you feel bored, you can find trouble elsewhere. I don’t ever want to see you at Pivotage again. I mean, I don’t want to see you ever again.”

Drew rubbed his tongue along his teeth. “Ha. You’re not the boss of me.”

Yvonne’s breath hitched, and she bit her lip.

She knew he could take a hint.

However, Drew was stubborn.

The Thompsons were the hardest people to deal with.

Drew put his hands on either side of the sink, trapping her in his embrace. As his face drew closer to hers, she nearly lost herself in the moment.

He clutched her chin, and the air was heavy with sultriness.

Their breaths and gazes mingled.

Her eyes glazed over, and so did his.

“If there is a chance for you to escape Christopher’s control and walk a path of righteousness, would you leave him?” Drew asked huskily.

Yvonne’s heart beat out of her chest.

Seconds later, she beamed and hooked her finger on the open collar of his black shirt. “No, because I’m broken, and Christopher is where I belong.”
