The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 679

"I'm swamped today, can't sign anything right now. I'm heading out with Cordelia to volunteer in Rusty Ridge—nice to get some fresh air, too. You in?" Ronan asked Emerson, shooting him a glance.

"Me?"

"Come on, it'll be good." Ronan stood up decisively. "We'll be back tomorrow. Stick with me."

Without overthinking it, Emerson followed suit.

Deep down, Emerson had his reservations about handing over the contract to Big Mountain. Daniella's company, Daniella Technology, might not be the biggest fish in the sea, but they've got cutting-edge tech and a dynamic, youthful leadership. Their drone project was the kind of bold venture others only dreamed of. The paperwork Daniella submitted clearly showcased her ambition—a force to be reckoned with. Yet, Emerson had refused her, all for the sake of avoiding any hint of scandal—'a gentleman doesn't pick fruit while standing in a melon field,' as the old saying went. It felt unfair to Daniella, but he was cornered.

And now he wondered if Ronan had seen through his hesitation, intentionally putting off the signing.

This left Emerson feeling all the more unsettled.

So, he followed Ronan out the door.

The driver had already picked up Cordelia, Whitney, Paola, Callum, and Jayson from their homes. Only Janice and a few other ladies remained, with Janice choosing to stay back for some rest.

The driver navigated the van from Ronan's estate to Lumos Enterprises to collect Ronan and Emerson, and then they all headed south.
