Karen really didn't disappoint this time.

"I'm going on a business trip tomorrow. I'll bring this up with my boss when I get back. This really is a solid project."

In no time, a reply came. "You're going on a business trip tomorrow too?"

"Yeah. To Havenbrook."

"What a coincidence! I'm heading to Havenbrook tomorrow too. I've been invited to give a talk at Techopolis University. If you're free, let's meet up. I'd love to chat more about this project."

This was sudden. Dorothy didn't know if he just wanted to talk about work or if Karen had a hand in this and had some ulterior motives.

But the project did seem really promising.

She couldn't afford to miss out on the project just because she was suspicious.

After a moment of thought, she replied, "Sure. We'll keep in touch."

After she put down her phone, Dorothy went into the bathroom. When she came out, she saw an unread message on her phone. It was not from WhatsApp.

When she opened it, she saw that the number was anonymous.

"I heard you've been a sugar baby for some rich guy. How do you think your mom would react?"

It hit Dorothy like a bucket of ice-cold water.

She knew instantly that it was from her dad's mistress. She was unable to wreak havoc at her mom's hospital, so she decided to mess with Dorothy instead.

"What the hell do you want?"

"If you can get your mom to agree to the divorce, I won't tell her about this."

Dorothy was so furious that she started shaking. She had never thought someone could be so shameless.

"Then just tell her." Everett's eyes were fixed on her face, as if he were trying to read something from it.

"Tell her what?" Dorothy's instinctive response showed that she had never considered bringing their marriage into the open.

After a few seconds of silence, Everett asked, frowning, "So, I'm not good enough to be seen?"

"But our contract only lasts for a year..." She'd have to explain the divorce then.

Dorothy analyzed rationally. "I know you don't like Karen introducing me to guys. You're worried about me having ambiguous relationships during our contract period, which might affect you physically. Don't worry; I have absolutely no intentions in that direction. If you think my word isn't enough, we can add a penalty clause to the contract. I have no objections."

She had thought deeply about what Everett meant when he said about his cleanliness obsession. Basically, he couldn't accept sharing a woman with other men.

Especially since he saw her as a stand-in for his true love, his concern was quite understandable.

Actually, Dorothy had only been intimate with him so far. But she didn't want to tell him that he was her first, since it felt like moral kidnapping.
