"Promise me you won't go wandering off again, okay? Mommy was scared to death!"

Abigail nodded as her eyes sparkled as she looked up at her mother. "Mommy, there was a really cool man down there."

"What on earth is Aunt Karen teaching you?" Dorothy muttered, not thinking much of it.

"I want to see the cool man again tomorrow."

And maybe even get her five dollars back, but that was just an afterthought.

Dorothy paused and glanced at her daughter's reflection in the mirror. "When I was your age, I didn't know anything about boys. You're so young, and you're already boy-crazy?!"

Abigail didn't quite understand what being 'boy-crazy' meant, but she blinked her big eyes and giggled. Her laughter almost sounded like tinkling bells. "Hehe, I’m awesome! I’m boy-crazy!"

Abigail fell silent. What was going on in this little girl’s head?

Once they finished their nightly routine, Dorothy cradled her daughter while gently patting her back.

Despite the exhaustion of the day, Abigail seemed not sleepy, while Dorothy was already falling asleep.

In her drowsy state, Dorothy thought she heard Abigail whisper. "Mommy, I miss my big brother. The cool man from today... he looked just like my big brother..."

Big brother…

Dorothy immediately snapped back to reality, covering Abigail's mouth with her hand.

"Don't mention your brother. Don't talk about him to anyone, understand?"

After seeing her daughter nod, Dorothy felt slightly relieved. "Go to sleep now, darling. Aunt Karen will take you out again tomorrow. Remember, no matter who asks you, you can’t say anything about your brother, okay?. Especially not what he looks like."

Abigail was a bit startled by her mother's intense reaction. Her eyes glistened with tears as she nodded. "Okay... I won't talk about him."

"That's my girl; now go to sleep. Mommy's here."

"Okay."

This terrified Dorothy. She was afraid the Lopez family would find out and try to take her children away.

They had proven that they would stop at nothing to get what they wanted, even if it meant taking a life. Three years later, they could just as easily try to take custody of her children.

She could only imagine how the Lopez family would treat her children.

For now, she was no match for them.

After much contemplation, she sent her son to a boarding school overseas and hired a caretaker to look after him. She took every opportunity she could to fly over and visit him whenever she finished a project.

Luckily, Abigail resembled her more than she did Everett, so she could stay with her mother.

But, like Austin, people were starting to notice the resemblance between Abigail and that man.

Dorothy knew these comments would become more frequent because Everett's genes were just too dominant.
