She'd forgotten, yesterday she neglected to reply to Calvin's message.
Just as Felicity was about to text him back, she suddenly felt eyes on her.
Looking up, she met Miles's penetrating gaze.
"Does he always come to you for help?"
"Occasionally."
"Tell him to send the data my way next time. I'll find someone to sort it out for him."
That way, Calvin wouldn't always use this as an excuse to cozy up to Felicity.
At first, she didn't catch the underlying tone, thinking Miles was just concerned she'd overwork herself, "No need, it's not that hard. I can whip it up during a coffee break."
"And if he keeps coming to you? You're just going to keep helping?"
It was then Felicity tasted the jealousy.
Her eyebrows arching slightly, she offered a dismissive smile, creating a metaphorical space between them, "You're being overly concerned."
Miles, dissatisfied, stepped forward, grabbing her wrist, "Felicity, last night you said you'd give me a month..."
"I did say that."
"So what am I to you now?"
Felicity pondered for a moment, "A boyfriend on probation."
"..."
He clenched his teeth, his jawline flexing visibly.
A boyfriend on probation, indeed!
His jealousy suddenly seemed entirely unreasonable.
"And what about Calvin? Does he get a probation period too?"
Felicity paused, instinctively starting to clarify her relationship with Calvin, that she had never intended to take things any further.
But the words stopped short of escaping, her lips curving instead, "Who knows what the future holds?"
"..."
She took the flowers, "Thank you."
Back in her office, she immediately called Calvin, "Have you lost your mind? Roses? I'd have preferred a couple of boxes of cookies."
"There are plenty of cookies at home, but no roses! I saw these while meeting a client, thought they were as beautiful as you, couldn't resist!"
Felicity was used to his slick talk, "Tone it down, don't think I don't know what you're up to."
"Hey, everyone appreciates beauty! So, it's okay for that Langston to chase you all the way to Anglonia, but I can't send flowers to your office?"
"..." Felicity could never win an argument with Calvin.
After a brief chat, she hung up and placed the roses in a corner of her office.
But the red was too conspicuous, catching her eye even in her peripheral vision.
Feeling it was distracting, she stood up with the intention to move it out of sight.
Just then, her gaze landed on a presence even more imposing than the bouquet... a person.
"Really love those flowers, huh? Can't seem to let them go."
