"Imagine if he actually pulls it off?" Everett's voice, deep and steady, contrasted sharply with the childishness of his words, creating an almost comical dissonance. "Just the other day, someone was saying they had a thing for 18-year-olds."
Silence.
Alright then.
She really had walked right into that one!
Joking with Everett seemed like a minefield.
But later that night, after a shower and back in the bedroom, with Dorothy snuggled in his arms, Everett's critique of Byte was surprisingly on-point.
"He's got a sharp mind, especially when it comes to tech."
"Yeah, I've heard a lot about his skills too. Just never thought he'd end up with the Lopez Corporation," Dorothy murmured, too cozy to even consider moving. She was perfectly positioned to hear his heartbeat.
She thought it would be nice to chat about old times or catch up on the latest business news. But then...
A slight shift from her, and she could feel him, unmistakably present against her.
"You... how can you even...?"
Dorothy hadn't thought their conversation remotely ventured into that territory. How could he be reacting?
Everett didn't reply with words. Instead, he flipped, pinning her beneath him.
"I've been thinking, once you're pregnant, I'll have to abstain for a while. So, I need to make up for it now."
"Is that even something you can 'make up' for?"
He nudged her teasingly, a clear indication. "Yes."
Under his guidance, Dorothy found herself melting into him.
Everett insisted on eye contact, frustrating her. "What kind of fetish is this!"
"It feels different this way!"
What sort of feeling was that?
In the end, Dorothy was too exhausted to even remember how he carried her to the shower afterward.
Asking him was futile. Once he got going, he forgot everything else.
Everett, watching Dorothy quickly fall asleep, couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment greater than closing any big deal.
He tiptoed out of bed, turned off the light, and headed to the living room to boot up his computer.
Running the Lopez Corporation wasn't just about the day-to-day. It was about balancing his time, ensuring he was there for Dorothy while also leading the company and its employees towards growth. That was the true responsibility of being a CEO.
