The Billionaire's Sudden Bride novel Chapter 366

Chapter 366

Summer’s POV

I woke up the next morning feeling surprisingly wellrested despite everything that had happened. As I made my way downstairs, I found Brandon in his home office, his expression tense as he typed pidly on his laptop.

Hey,I said softly, leaning against the doorframe.

Brandon looked up, his features immediately softening. Morning. How are you feeling?

I walked over and perched on the edge of his desk. I’m okay. But I’ve been thinking about Victoria.

What about her?His tone turned cautious.

I want her to pay for what she did to Grandpa George. My voice came out harder than I’d intended. She basically admitted to causing his heart attack. Can weI don’t know, handle this ourselves? Outside the legal system?

Brandon studied me for a moment, then closed his laptop. I understand how you feel. And I would gladly make her suffer for hurting you and your grandfather. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. But there’s a problem. Victoria’s missing.

Missing?I blinked in surprise.

Yes. And Sophie too. I’ve been trying to cop sophie since yesterday, but she’s not answering her phone.

I frowned. Do you think they’re together?

Possibly. I have people looking for them.He reached for my hand. As soon as we find Victoria, I promise you, she’ll pay for everything she’s done.

I nodded, trying to push down the burning anger I felt whenever I thought about Victoria’s smug face as she basically admitted to killing my grandfather.

Living with Jane Sinclair for month had turned out better than I expected. After our initial rocky start, we’d developed a surprisingly comfortable relationship. I could tell she appreciated how I’d helped bridge the gap between her and Brandon, healing their fractured motherson relationship.

Later that morning, I was sorting through some paperwork in the living room when Jane came downstairs, dressed elegantly as always.

Let me help you with those!she said, hurrying over when she saw me organizing files.

It’s fine, I’ve got it-I started, but she was already taking the folders from my hands.

Nonsense! You’re pregnant and shouldn’t be straining yourself. She gestured toward the couch. Sit down and rest. I’ll handle

these.

I smiled and relented settling onto the plush sofa. Thank you, Jane

She began organizing the papers with surprising efficiency. Brandons been so busy lately. I barely see him around the house.

The Stark Group is demanding,I agreed. There’s always some crisis that needs his attention.

She hesitated, then set the papers down. Summer, I need to apologize for my behavior when we first met. I wasdifficult.

That’s putting it mildly,I said with a small laugh, then quickly added, But that’s all in the past now. We’re getting along great,

aren’t we?

Jane smiled, relief evident in her eyes. Yes, we are. And I’m grateful for that.

As she returned to organizing the files, I suddenly remembered something important. Oh my god!I exclaimed, sitting up straight.

What’s wrong?Jane asked, alarmed.

I completely forgot! I have an appointment with Dr. Miller today for my prenatal checkup. I’ve been so focused on these reports that it slipped my mind.

What time is your appointment?

I checked my watch. In about an hour. I should go get ready.

Jane set the files aside. I’ll come with you,she offered.

I looked at her in surprise. You don’t have to do that.

I want to,she insisted. Brandon’s too busy right now, and you shouldn’t go alone. Besides, she added with a tentative smile, T’d like to be there for my grandchild.

The sincerity in her voice touched me. After everything we’d been through, this felt like a significant step forward. I’d appreciate that, thank you.

As I headed upstairs to get ready, I couldn’t help feeling a strange mix of emotions. Jane accompanying me to my prenatal appointment felt both surreal and oddly right. She seemed genuinely excited about becoming a grandmother, and I was glad we’d moved past our initial hostility.

When we arrived at Manhattan General Hospital, Dr. Miller was already waiting outside her office. Her eyebrows raised slightly when she saw Jane beside me.

Mrs. Stark!she greeted, then glanced curiously at Jane.

Dr. Miller, this is my motherinlaw,I explained.

Jane extended her hand. Jane Sinclair. Pleased to meet you.

Dr. Miller smiled warmly. Wonderful to meet you too. Summer, shall we get started with your checkup?

As Jane settled in the waiting area, Dr. Miller led me into the examination room. At nearly five months pregnant, my babies bump were now clearly visible beneath my loose blouse.

How have you been feeling?she asked as she prepared the equipment.

Pretty good, actually. The morning sickness has finally stopped.

She nodded approvingly. That’s normal for this stage. Let’s check on your little one.

The examination went smoothly. Dr. Miller confirmed that all my vits were normal and the babies were developing perfectly.

Remember to stay active at home, she advised as I redressed. Don’t sit for too long at a stretch. And don’t worry if you experience mood swingsthat’s completely normal during pregnancy.
