The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen) novel Chapter 1974

Georgia looked up at the sky, feigning innocence, "Who said that? Certainly wasn't me."

Hertha scoffed, unimpressed by Georgia's sudden transformation into the picture of obedience now that Alaric had arrived. Just moments ago, she was all high and mighty, but now, she was as meek as a lamb.

Hertha's gaze shifted to the woman next to Georgia, "Hey, beautiful, care to enlighten us on who was the jerk saying spending thirty grand on a car is a peasant move?"

Georgia's face turned a shade of green at Hertha's insult, but with Alaric standing by Hertha's side, she restrained herself from snapping back.

The last time Alaric was sick, and she, along with Angelina, visited him, it only ended up annoying Alaric.

That visit even drove a wedge between her and Angelina.

Till now, she was still figuring out how to get back into Alaric's or Angelina's good graces.

Another embarrassment in front of Alaric, and she could kiss her image goodbye in his eyes.

So, even with Hertha's snide remarks, Georgia bit her tongue.

"And how would I know who the jerk was?" The woman next to Georgia played dumb too, deliberately avoiding eye contact with Hertha and Alaric.

"Figures, birds of a feather flock together. A jerk always hangs out with jerks," Hertha muttered disdainfully.

Hertha, caught off guard, braced for the imminent scratch, Georgia's manicured nails sharp and ready.

But just as her claws were inches from Hertha's face, Georgia was suddenly yanked backward by the collar, her nails retracting as she stumbled.

Furious and contorted with rage, Georgia turned, ready to unleash a torrent of insults on whoever had pulled her back.

The sight of Alaric immediately halted her tirade. Her angry facade melted into one of grievance, tears welling up as she looked at Alaric, "Alaric, did you see that? She insulted me and hit me. My face, it must be ruined..."

At home, a simple cry, a few tears, and her parents would rush to console her, granting her every wish like she was their precious gem.
