The newsroom of The Daily Chronicle was a frenzy of activity. Phones were ringing non–stop, keyboards were clattering, and voices were raised in excitentent and disbelief. Marina Chen, the paper’s top investigative reporter, was at the heart of it all, her eyes wide as she scrolled through the explosive documents on her computer screen.
“This can’t be real,” she muttered, shaking her head in disbelief. How could their son do this, and they chose to cover it up? I still can’t believe it.” As she delved deeper into the mountain of evidence before her, the truth became increasingly undeniable. The once untouchable Regars empire was on the brink of collapse he pondered over who could have the power to orchestrate such a downfall.
Across town, in the Blackwood company, Damian stood at the floor–to–ceiling windows of his office.
“Damian,” Elara called as she walked into his office. “Have you seen the news?”
“It’s done,” Damian said, his voice low and controlled. “Jackson’s just confirmed that every major news outlet in the country has received the files.”
Elara stopped pacing, her eyes meeting Damian’s reflection in the window. “And now we wait.”
Damian’s lips curled into an evil smile. “Yes, for their downfall.”
Elara sighed, moving closer to him. “I can’t wait to see their downfall.” Her smile mirrored Damian’s own.
“You don’t have to worry about that. I’ve asked Jackson to contact all the silenced by his family.”
He turned to face Elara, whose expression wasn’t what he expected.

“What’s wrong?” he asked. “You should be happy, or is something botherin
“Yes,” she replied truthfully. “It’s about Leah.”
Damian raised his brow. “Your former assistant? What about her?
“Her brother,” she began, her tone laced with hurt. “He’s dead.”
“Oh.” Damian put his hands in his pockets. “Is that why you’re sad?”
“Yes,” she replied, looking at Damian, who didn’t seem bothered. She was talking about someone’s loved one–why was he so indifferent?
“Have you seen her?”
“No, I haven’t. I tried calling her as well, but she isn’t picking up.
“You should try calling her once again,” he advised.
“I will. Thank you.”
The first headline broke like a thunderclap:
“REGARS FAMILY IMPLICATED IN MASSIVE FRAUD AND CORRUPTION SCANDAL”

Within minutes, every news channel, website, and social media platform was ablaze with the story. Daniel Regars‘ face, once the picture of corporate success, now stared out from screens across the nation, captioned with words like “fraud,” corruption,” and “criminal enterprise.”
In her lavish penthouse at the Blackwood, Damian’s mother watched the news in horror. She couldn’t believe what was happening. She had underestimated her son and his wife.
“Ma’am, have you seen the news?” Vivian asked as she rushed inside the private sitting room where Serena sat.

“Vivian, Tunderestimated Damian. He must have found out that Snow Regars was involved in this. About his wife,” she said, feeling guilty. “He must have known that I asked about his wife’s past from her.” She rose from her seat. “I think I caused the Regars‘ downfall.”
“Madam, you didn’t cause their downfall,” Vivian uttered. “Her son did. He did so many horrible things. I think it’s karma. You don’t have to feel guilty.”
Serena paced back and forth, her heart racing as she listened to the news. “You mean everything isn’t my fault? I wasn’t the one who forced Damian to investigate the Regars?”
“The documents reveal a decades–long pattern of fraud, bribery, and illegal business practices,” she reported. “But perhaps most disturbing are the allegations against Daniel Regars himself. Multiple sources have come forward with accounts of sexual assault and harassment, painting a picture of a man who used his power and influence to prey on vulnerable employees and associates.”
At a bar in the city, Charles Montgomery sat hunched over his drink, his face flushed as he watched the news on the TV above the bar. He had known this day might come, but nothing could have prepared him for the reality of it. Marina Chen’s mention of “unnamed sources within the industry” sent a chill down his spine. How long before they came for him?
“Fuck!” he cursed. “I knew it was him.” Daniel was trembling as he recalled Damian’s calm face.
“Why, son?” Snow asked amidst her tears. “Why did you choose to cross that monster? I warned you to stay away from that bitch. Now that she’s managed to worm her way into the Blackwood family and got married to that evil being, but you refused to listen to me. Look at everything. You’ve caused the downfall of the Regars.”
“Mom, please,” he shot back at his mother. “Don’t add more to my anger.”
