The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) novel Chapter 33

Brittany squeezed her eyes shut, body rigid, terrified out of her wits.

"Get lost!"

The harsh screech of brakes sounded, followed by some muffled grunts. It was like something heavy hit the ground.

When Brittany opened her eyes, Isaac was standing in front of her.

He must have just arrived, the harsh light behind him casting his tall figure into sharp relief.

He looked at Brittany, and her eyes immediately welled up. She dropped the fruit knife in her hand and clung to Isaac's waist, "Zakky, I was so scared."

She had always been a straight-arrow, except for the one time she eloped to marry Isaac. Who wouldn't be scared shitless in this situation?

Seeing him, all her pretend composure crumbled, and she didn't care about his previous words about keeping distance, tears poured out like a burst dam. Her tears soaked through his clothes, and for a moment, he felt the heat of them.

The thugs behind them were on the ground, unable to move.

Isaac picked up Brittany, "What floor are you on?"

"Five."

Brittany choked out, still in his arms, her face still showing the panic of being startled.

“Those guys...”

“I've already called the police.”

Isaac carried Brittany up the stairs, and when he saw the mess in the living room and the bloodstains on the sofa, his eyes flashed a look of hostility.

He put Brittany down, only then did he see her swollen cheek. He opened the fridge, but found not a single ice pack, and there was no first aid kit in the living room. This wasn’t their old apartment.

He frowned, standing up.

“Their doing?”

Brittany's eyes were filled with tears, "The landlord owed money, I didn't know, and they came to collect the debt."

Brittany was so careless. How could rent be below market price in a good neighborhood?

“Not at the moment.”

Isaac hung up, and Brittany had finished packing. “All done.”

He walked over to her, pulled out the bank card from his pocket, and handed it to Brittany.

"I told you before, we should help each other out. I don't need this money."

Brittany took the bank card, she had learned her lesson about trying to get a bargain, and she wouldn't make the same mistake again.

Isaac picked up the suitcase and walked downstairs, Brittany followed closely.

After getting in the car, Brittany buckled her seatbelt and leaned back in the passenger seat. The silence of the night was as peaceful as a moonlit lake.

When they got back to the apartment, Brittany planned to go back to her room.

"Hold on."
