Scarlett looked at him with a half-smile.
Raymond's expression changed slightly.
Since Scarlett asked this question, she probably knew what had happened back then.
Raymond didn't hide it from her. "Her name is Riya. She met a robber and was killed ten years ago. She called me that night, but I declined directly and put her number on the blacklist."
"Jalen thinks it was I who caused Riya's death."
Raymond had never thought that he was wrong about this matter. Even though the Parke family decried him for being coldblooded and ruthless, Raymond still thought that he was not wrong.
Riya had always called Raymond to disturb his life before the accident. But Raymond was not a good-tempered person. If Raymond hadn't cared about Jalen's feelings, Raymond would have ignored Riya and put her number on the blacklist a long time ago.
That day Riya took the liberty of going to his apartment to clean up, but she broke his computer, which stored the paper that Raymond completed after staying up late for more than a week.
Raymond was so angry that he really wanted to beat Riya, but he refrained from doing so.
And he had never told anyone about this thing.
Regardless of how Riya disturbed his life, it was his freedom to choose whether to answer the phone or not that night. Though something bad happened to Riya, Raymond should not be blamed.
"Did Jalen tell you about this matter?"
Scarlett shook her head. "Alexis told me."
Raymond didn't expect Alexis to tell Scarlett about this matter. He asked, "Do you also think I was wrong?"
Scarlett didn't mind the relationship between Riya and Raymond, nor did she think that Raymond should be responsible for Riya's death.
In society, people tended to show more respect and mercy to the dead, so even an innocent person involved had to take some responsibility for a dead man.
Scarlett understood why Raymond asked this, because probably almost everyone thought he was wrong.
But she didn’t think so.
"You didn't do anything wrong."
Scarlett looked at him with her eyebrows arched and gave a smile.
Staring at her, Raymond suddenly pulled her into his arms. "I was not wrong."
After so many years, only Scarlett thought that he was not wrong.
