Hardly had Devin left, Alexis asked eagerly, "Who’s he?"
Scarlett said, "I told you I don't know him."
Alexis snorted, "Come on. You expect me to believe that shit?"
Alexis knew that if Scarlett didn’t know a man, she would ignore him.
Alexis then rested her chin in her hands and stared at Scarlett with a smile.
Scarlett knew that if she didn't tell Alexis the truth, she would stare at her all day.
She took a sip of her lemonade and said, "I really don't know him. We just met the other day in Chatbury City."
"How did he know your name?"
Scarlett thought Alexis was quick-witted at times and said, "Maybe he overheard my name when Rowan and Viviana called me."
Alexis nodded at Scarlett's sincere answer, "He has feelings for you, I suppose."
Scarlett put the glass down and wore a halfsmile, "Do you have a thing for him? How about I contact Justin now?"
On hearing that, Alexis became flustered," Nope. I just... eh made that up."
And then she added, "Honestly, he looked purposeful and determined. Raymond's not with you now. Watch out for his traps, Lettie."
Scarlett sniffed, "When I returned to Chatbury City a few days ago, I went to Nanhuaton No. 1 Middle School and remembered something."
"Ah-huh?"
Alexis even numbered them. She kept it a secret from Justin, who always scoffed at those letters she received.
Alexis even received several love letters at the high school prom. Later, under the pretext of going to the bathroom, she went to the playground with Scarlett and said she would bury the more than two hundred letters and dig them up later in her reminiscence.
Alexis thought it meant something to her, a rite of passage to end her youth.
On the contrary, Scarlett thought it was a childish stunt. However, the drunken Alexis was stubborn and spent an hour digging a hole to bury those letters.
Alexis must have planned that for a long time. She put the letters in a bag and sealed it. The letters thus would have remained intact after all these years.
Alexis and Justin became lovers when they were in college and later married.
Alexis had apparently forgotten all about the love letters.
