Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 36

Eloise's eyes were empty. She stared at the man she once loved deeply, feeling utterly unfamiliar. She even began to question if she ever really knew him? How could he be so heartless?

Michelle was so timid. there was no way she could hold a knife! It was obviously Max, stirring the pot and setting her up!

Eloise whispered, "Max, can you just let me off the hook?"

Max was about to say something when Eloise quietly knelt before him. Michelle seemed to snap out of it for a moment, making a weird noise, as if trying to stop Eloise. But Eloise stayed put, resolutely kneeling there.

Tears welled up in her eyes, which were already red and swollen from crying. She quivered, "Max, I was young and foolish, and gave you a hard time. Now I beg you, for my past kindness, let go of my dad and Michelle, please!"

Michelle burst into tears. She came to her senses, apologizing to Eloise through her sobs and trying to help Eloise to her feet.

No way! Eloise was Angus' only daughter, how could she kneel before this heartless man?

Eloise stayed unmoved, her gaze fixed on Max. They had been together for four years, how could he not know her?

She might be gentle, but she has her own determination. She once loved him deeply, but now she was kneeling to get away from him.

Max was grinding his teeth in anger. He retorted, "And what if I don't, Eloise?"

Eloise clenched her fists, "Aren't you afraid I'll expose your true colors?"

"Go ahead!" Max's face twisted as he sneered, "Let's see if Orlena would forgive me, or if your family would stay safe. Do you think Harvey would help you?"

...

In the distance, the sound of sirens grew louder.

Eloise's face turned pale. Max had won. His behavior was vile and he was like a beast!

Eloise closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she whispered, "Please don't be upset. I apologize on behalf of Michelle."

Max casually sat down on the couch, extending his hand toward Eloise.

Eloise's hand was stained with Max's blood, and she slowly raised her hand, reaching over to Max.
