Eloise looked down, soberly saying, "It's just his ego playing up."

Max didn't love her. He simply couldn't bear the humiliation of being dependent on the Horigan family. He wanted to regain some pride elsewhere. And Eloise, a woman who once loved him deeply, was his perfect target.

Veronica was even more upset, and she hugged Eloise tightly, "Just ignore him, he's got issues!"

Eloise nodded lightly. She had made up her mind. Once the matter with her father was over, she would take Michelle and leave Peterborough to start a new life elsewhere. But she couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. Her feelings had led to her father being imprisoned and Michelle living a life of instability in her old age.

Veronica comforted her for a long time before leaving early due to some other matters.

Eloise still had more terrible things to face. Max was ruthless. One by one, the places where Eloise worked part-time called to terminate her contract. Eloise could only nod helplessly.

The last call was from Max, which Eloise answered. They were quiet, with only their breathing intermingling at both ends of the phone. Finally, Eloise spoke, "Max, what else do you want?"

What more did he want?

Max chuckled coldly, "Don't you know what I want?"

Eloise didn't say a word, so he couldn't help but speak again, "Eloise, beg me. Everything can be solved if you beg me. I'll double compensate for everything you lost. You'll live better. Don't you remember how happy we were together?"

Eloise sneered, "You mean the kind of happiness where I waited for you for dinner at the apartment while you were out fooling around with Ravenna?"

Max's voice suddenly tightened, "Who told you?"

Max grabbed her neck, leaned down and kissed her. His kiss was passionate and wild, and Ravenna was quickly taken in, following his movement.. The office was filled with sensual energy.

In the heat of the moment, Max grabbed Ravenna's hair and whispered like a lover, "Did you tell Eloise about us?"

Ravenna, lost in passion, gave a little hum, "Max, don't mention her. Let's continue..."

"So it's true!" Max got closer to her face and gently nipped her cheek.

Ravenna was slightly stunned. She finally noticed something different about Max. His behavior was nothing like usual, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Just as Ravenna was lost in thought, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her scalp. Max, gripping her hair tightly, gave a hard yank. Within an instant, her forehead hit the cold desktop. Blood started to flow.
